Would love a warm up for post virus- when you have recently got your speaking voice back and want to get your singing voice back. This seemed like the next best thing 🙂

I appreciate each video you make, you have a very clear and encouraging way of explaining things. It makes the routine of vocal warming an engaging and resourceful one❤ This is the first video I came accross youtube that truly made me understand much much more clearly what I have to do while breathing. Super helpful!! I would love to ask you a question that popped in my mind during your video. I hope it’s not stupid to ask this😂 I am referring especially to the times when one has to hold a long note or to sing with a lot of sustain and power through a piece of melody. When it comes to the exhaling part of the breathing, how exactly do you have to sustain/contract the diaphragm? Do you tighten up your core, your diaphragm all at once from the start and then keep on sustaining it and pulse when needed or should you do it gradually…somehow..? I hope it makes sense what i am asking😅 what I mean is…can I start sustaining the diaphragm normally and then as I progress through the long note (or any section of the song that needs a lot of support) I increase the support/ the tightening of the diaphragm gradually? Is that a thing? Or does it have to be balanced at all times, with the same level of support?

Fabulous exercises. I have been trying to brighten my singing voice especially the lower register by making sure I am showing my top teeth and singing 'ng' and then 'r' repeat ng r ng r ng r ng r on 54321- my tongue is doing the work. I am doing lip trills in the lowest part of my lower register 543212345 to gently strengthen it. It is in my speaking range so I should tap into it.

Love the examples of overtones and undertones. I only started singing in a Barbershop choir early this year (thankfully they now include women) and find the harmonies absolutely amazing.

I do Pilates for a least 30 minutes most days to keep my body in good shape. I do breathing exercises for singing every day for at least 5 minutes. Love SOVT Exercises which is one of the reasons I am a big Kathleen Hansen fan and do the exercises on her videos. I always carry a water bottle and sip on water when out to ensure I drinks lots of water. If you are thirsty you are already dehydrated!

These videos are the best singing warm up videos I have found on KZbin! It feels like I'm sitting with a real vocal teacher who's walking me through the process. I do your warm ups every day, especially right before recording. You are such an amazing person, thank you so much for all your hard work. It is truly appreciated! ❤

We still want the ribcage to stay expanded when we are singing "on the breath." A ribcage that comes in or collapses is usually a sign that the singer isn't supporting their sound.

Cool! I’m curious at what age range does this start to be applicable?
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen4 күн бұрын
Ah, that's a great question! I'd say it's very subjective, since our voices continuously change! When you start noticing aging in the body (muscle tone, skin changes, etc), then you can be sure the voice is also experiencing aging.

Before i even start watching, a 20 minute long warm-up is a bit of an exaggeration. If your voice takes this long to warm up, you’re doing something wrong… And i didn’t invent that just now, a professional vocal coach made a video on this
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen4 күн бұрын
Hi! Thanks for interacting with my content. There was a study done with professional singers that said that singers subjectively felt warmed up in ten minutes or so. But 1) they were professional and 2) it's subjective. And here's another study that shows the difference between shorter warmups (0-15 minutes): bearworks.missouristate.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4865&context=theses And about the perception of being warmed up: repository.lsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4011&context=gradschool_theses#:~:text=The%20majority%20of%20participants%20(78.6,participants%20reported%20experiencing%20voice%20problems. That said, you can think of my "warmup" videos as "warmups and exercises" - just like an athlete runs drills, vocalists should as well. Exercises help build the foundation for healthy singing. So, if you're looking for a quick warmup, you can find them here: Super Quick Vocal Warmup | 6 minute warm up for singers kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGG5dpSAn8lgrq8 QUICK 5 Minute Vocal Warm Up | How To QUICKLY warm up your voice kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWSUn2qLba2Zbdk But, if you'd like to do exercises that improve your skills in addition to warming up your voice, one of the longer ones would be appropriate. And this is currently my most popular, for all of the people that enjoy taking their time: Morning Vocal Warmups | Gentle Vocal Warmup | Warm Up To Sing In The Morning | Morning Warmup kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJW7fHpnh5ytoJI
