I'd like to see a power test. Put all your nailers up against each other. Do layers of that nasty bamboo laminate. If they can get through that, start adding layers of sheet metal between. We want to know which nailer is the most powerful!
@BuildsStuff2 сағат бұрын
Go away. I'm selling all my nailers. Leave me alone. I'm going to live in a cave.
@toolscientist2 сағат бұрын
@BuildsStuff you said any last tests before you retire. Do you want to do my other test instead? Fire 10,000 nails from each nailer and count how many jams you get. You'll definitely want to retire after doing that 😄

4:24 12.95V was minimum startup voltage, but I've only tested one tool. Could well be different on some tools.
@BuildsStuff2 сағат бұрын
Yeah I thought it was closer to 12v. I tried it a few more times after I filmed this, and would just get the one shot each time.

Can you swap out the on/off button for one with the bump fire? Or is there more to it than that? Edit: what about one of those ceenr batteries?
@BuildsStuff2 сағат бұрын
I was waiting for someone to ask about the bumpfire... The Ceenr 4Ah 5cell is only around 100gms lighter than a Makita 5Ah 10 cell, so not much weight advantage. As for it running the tool? It overloads so easily that it may act just like this 14.4v. Maybe I'll test it if enough people like this comment :)

Very educational! I have been mixing in 40v to my collection and glad I saw this first. Although I dealt with some of this in the 18v line, I did not consider this with the new line. I dig your video style. Entertaining and educational and stripped down of useless annoying things that lead to watching in fast forward. Cheers to you and my new favorite channel!

Huh, interesting that the magazine is so heavy. How does the tool without the magazine compare to the Hikoki? No way Makita didn’t realise in the near decade developing this tool that it was so heavy compared to the competition, they must have made a decision somewhere that had them think this was the right way to go.
@JumbaGumbaКүн бұрын
So the magazine is a big contributor to the weight, is there anything else they could have improved? I'm so disappointed with how heavy this thing is

Not a great design. They've used the "hip flask" style reservoir like Hikoki, but Makita's is much larger. That'll give it a more linear spring curve (which is good), but adds weight. They should have used concentric cylinders like Milwaukee. That hip-flask shape is worse than a cylinder for holding pressure, so it needs thicker walls. So I think air cylinder and that battery bumper is where its extra weight vs Milwaukee comes from. The alu magazine is where it loses to Hikoki, which I think is plastic.
@BuildsStuff2 күн бұрын
Hikoki's Magazine is the worst of all nailers I've tested. It's a good nailer, but the mag is crap compared to others.
@toolscientist2 күн бұрын
@BuildsStuff too much friction? I wonder if some UHMWPE strips on the sides would help. Maybe a thin steel strip on the front to stop the nail points getting caught.
@toolscientist2 күн бұрын
@BuildsStuff any chance you'd do a mega teardown of all your nailers and compare component weights?

I like how well built the tool is. Id like the little actuator bit for the pressure switch to be something bit more substantial, but its fine. Other than that, i love it, the only bit that annoys me is the massive weight. But I guess you can attribute that to the large and substantial size of the metal parts, presumably for longevity and strength of the components. Thank you for the tear down of the nailer, it's a valuable resource to have, though can you please review the 40V D-handle HP007G rotary hammer drill at some point? Cheers!

Interesting video tools. I wander if your going to use the adapter with the cord if an air powered one and a compressor would be just as good but a lot lighter. I guess the only issue would having to carry a compressor around with you. It still seems shame given the amount they had they went with 18 volt and the weight
