My interpretation is a main character who was thrown from their average life into their position and at first thinks they can handle it,but over the course of the song they start to crack under the pressure but use a ego filled persona to cover it up.but that facade eventually cracks at the end as they snap and wonder what they ever done to the villain (“I ain’t done a fucking thing to you!”) and being miserable with their job.they even show signs of wanting to die during the song (“imagine if protagonists just died in the first scene”) they literally will do anything to escape their position.even if that includes dying as the antagonist has probably taken everyone away from them so at this point they have nothing to lose
