In the first 4 minutes of this video you are not vertical jigging. You are trolling. I thought this video was about vertical jigging? I will not watch a video of a person that doesn't know the difference.

Try upping the weight on the jig head. I discovered they would follow a lot, up and down. Once I went up to a 1-2oz jig head they were way more committed on the fall. Instantly doubled the amount of fish I was getting to bite. Pair it with 4.8” fat swing impact and a small treble stinger right under the belly.

Glad you O boys are picking up on jigging for Kings. It's been a Lake Michigan thing for many years now and a blast. One thing I can't wrap my head around is how y'all release fish back so much lol definitely not the norm on LM. If it hits the deck, it goes home. Just interesting differences, nothing more.

Great vid. I'm planning to vertical jig on an inflatable kayak in lake O soon. A bit concerned about being pulled by a chinook and being unable to steer the kayak while fight the fish at the same time if I hook one on, but hopefully I can manage. I tried jigging on a 1oz spoon in choppy water and it was difficult to get the lure to go straight down, or the boat was drifting too much (don't have spot lock). I figure that trying to stay in the same area will be one of the main challenges, aside from finding the fish itself. What's the heaviest jig you throw in?
@danthefisher13 күн бұрын
Spot lock is very key for this jigging. Ive used up to 2.5 oz jigs

Great catch. I've never jigged before but it looks like a nice alternative to trolling. I suppose you need to locate the bait fish or actual fish in the area first before you start dropping the jigs?
@danthefisher18 күн бұрын
Yeah its always good to either start trolling or if theres lots of fish in the area just putt around find 1 or 2 and then spot lock and wait for them to cruise through

They say "Bow to the King" when you're fishing Tarpon and they jump. Bowing gives them room to shake the lure without losing it.
