Not sure. This video is for a 2019 model. Was your vehicle a pre-owned? These Volvos were able to operate 2 types of navigation. One navigation system is the Volvo Sensus navigation that is optional equipment installed on the car. The other is internet based navigation which required a subscription to activated a connection to volvo internet services and it featured navigation maps. Check your settings/app menu and look at the navigation icon. If it says something like "internet" or "web" then the car does not have navigation. Its likely that you saw maps because the car had an active subscription and then it expired or was cancelled by the previous owner of the car. Make sure the app in the car says "Navigation" and NOT "internet"

On the driver door, there is a a model year and some other information about the vehicle like the VIN number, Wheel size, etc

I would try going into the system settings. There, you might find a "reset to factory settings" options or something similar. This will simply erase and reset any personalized setting that might have been saved.

For this model year, if the vehicle was equipped with navigation, there would be an additional button near the "phone" button for the navigation function. The vehicle featured in this video is not equipped with navigation.

Yes, it was actually a very common thing from buyers at the time, they would see a vehicle with a screen and would automatically assume it had onboard navigation and of course that wasnt the case. Ive seen people return to the dealer next day after their purchase wondering how the navigation works only to find out the car never had that feature. Nowadays just about every newer car has a screen since they need to have back up cameras but the same still goes, screen doesnt necessarily mean it has navigation.

If you mean having the system project the google maps application on to the screen and operating it via the screen, no, I dont believe so. The best and I think the only way to do that is to have a system with android auto or apple car play. This system was used at a time when smart phone integration and syncing on cars was just getting started so there was not a whole lot of support for apps or other more robust phone functions beyond making/receiving calls and playing your music. This system had its own navigation app you had to buy, download on to the car and your phone though I doubt there will be much support for it now.

this was the older infotainment system used in GM cars at the time (around 2014-15). Apple carplay was still fairly new and wasnt widely available for most cars since many car manufacturers hadnt caught up and secured licensing to use the software in their cars including GM. It was available soon after on some of their models in 2016 when they updated to the next gen MyLink system.

This generation, when not equipped with factory navigation, required the download of a specific app. It may be an obsolete set up at this point.

whats wrong with it? Dosent turn on? not responding to touch? Sometimes a factory flash re-set might work. This can be best done by a authorized dealer. You can ask if they can do it as a courtesy maybe next time you get an oil change. when these things break, they dont fix them, they replace them and that can cost alot of money.

The driving of the base model vs the top fully loaded ones are not much different. It feels exactly the same, not worth paying an extra 20,000. Good choice!

GM vehicles have 3 settings for the courtesy light(s) Off, On, and "Door". If the light s arent turning on when opening the door, its because its set to "off" On this truck, I believe its the switch on the roof near the dome light seen at 11:06, (the small button with a picture of a truck with the door open) if not then it will be the dimmer switch, seen at 3:00, just increase the illumination till the light comes on.

It is night and day. Contrary to what some believe, the TLX is not a rebadged Accord. They are different platforms. The TLX has much more sound absorbing material and higher grade material making for a quieter cabin. The door panels are thicker, theres covers in the wheel wells and Acura has a small noise cancelling microphone inside the cabin to help in reducing outside sounds. Acura also has triple layer side windows (glass, laminate, glass) you can see when you roll down the windows. All you need to do is sit in both, just by slamming the door you can tell the difference. Which drives better is subjective. The TLX 4cyl has more power (206 vs. 190 on honda) and puts it down to the ground better, imo. The 2.4 NON turbo engine+the traditional 8-speed dual clutch tranny has been used for years, Honda reserved this only for Acura's, I believe and at this point, its as reliable as you can get. The Honda uses a pretty small turbo engine (1.5L) which always tend to have a little lag. Although it puts out enough power, its a big car so its working hard which translates to noise. It also uses a CVT tranny which although are getting much better, they still feel odd sometimes and kinda mushy. Overall, The Honda is geared towards value and economy, more stuff for your money while Acura is geared towards a premium drive and performance. Acura also offers all-wheel drive options on their cars that really elevate handling while Honda does not offer this on theirs.

@@GWoodCars i totally agree with you. One time i was in an Accord 2.0t Uber, and i was thinking OMG! It’s so noisy compared with my TLX V6. I got the base V6 FWD and the dealer gave me a price of $30,600 brand new and I’m thinking it cost less than an Accord 2.0T that has leather. So my whole take on this experience is to always to get a base biggest engine Acura instead of an upgraded Honda.

This particular car had an added cost of $3K or so.

Yes, the interior infotainment is criticized alot for being outdated. I personally like to dual screen as I like that there is one screen dedicated to the radio and the other screen to everything else. Im not sure why so many manufacturers have opted to delete a spare tire from cars. Ive heard many things from saving weight for fuel efficiency to cost savings to avoiding state tire taxes. I know California has a tire tax and if theres a spare its extra cost but mostly it has to do with MPG regulations. less weight means the manufacturer can most likely give their car a higher MPG rating to meet more strict MPG regulations. This is why SUV's and trucks over a certain weight have spares because they are exempt from such regulations. The hyundai elantra is a very efficient, light car and having a spare probably didnt effect its ratings much.

I don’t know about the base model, but every TLX I’ve ever driven has the ability to raise the height of the seat

I don’t know what model you have but I have the base 2018 TLX and I can raise it. Try lifting up the handle that moves your seat forward and backwards

@@GWoodCars i totally agree with you. The IPad that comes with newer cars these days are totally an eye sore and doesn’t flow with the dashboards at all including the newest TLX now. These dual screen actually work really well with Apple Car Play.

The temperature should not require any set up. the car reads the outside temperature via other sensors then displays it on the screen.
