Good day Doctor Stevenson. When you use your microetcher II A from Zest to sandblast your zirconia crowns, I believe we have to run it at 35 psi for 20 seconds. Can we use 60 psi for 10 second? I have a hard time to adjust the psi from my dental chair system.
@StevensonDentalSolutions2 күн бұрын
For sure - it's hard to damage zirconia with a microetcher
@chopinlajolla74722 күн бұрын
@ In your practice do you set it up at 35 psi ? Because most delivery system runs at 60 psi, if I stick to the protocol, I then need a pressure reduction valve installed?

Great job dr. 330 RGS is the same as inverted cone bur ?
@StevensonDentalSolutions7 күн бұрын
@@amralassas no. The 330 RGS has a flat bottom and slightly rounded corners and it measures 2 mm in length so it’s a little bit more gentle with the convergency compared to an inverted cone, which is quite a bit aggressive.

Whenever I use a clear matrix and pull it to the side to adapt it and light cute, the composite always gets stuck to the matrix and moves things around and it never looks as flat as yours. How do we prevent this? Thank you your videos are amazing
@StevensonDentalSolutions14 күн бұрын
Make sure that the matrix and wedge are secure - no movement. Then pull the matrix in a direct which helps to seat the wedge further...towards to sharp end of the wedge. Use wooden wedges.

Thank you, Dr. Some references mention that beveling for amalgam can be done only at the axiopulpal line angle. However, you mentioned it can also be done on the gingival seat. I just want to confirm: would beveling in that area compromise the strength of the amalgam?
@StevensonDentalSolutions17 күн бұрын
It's a moderate bevel, about 15-20 degrees and it parallels the enamel rods.
@patpawlowski763519 күн бұрын
Hi Dr. Stevenson. I am going through your gold inlay and inlay videos, my observation about this MOD hollowgrind prep design is that it seems easier and less technique sensitive than other Tucker techniques. Is there any disadvantages of this? I’d love to take your course someday and learn these techniques
@StevensonDentalSolutions19 күн бұрын
It is and it has ample retention and resistance forms. Tucker was concerned that the bur, namely the 7404-014 was too wide to conservatively fit interproximally. I find that smaller sizes (860-010 diamond) allow for this and it is a non-issue. Great observation Doc. Hope to meet you in person someday! Rich Stevenson

Great video. How do you prevent j lips or correct them at the contact areas?
@StevensonDentalSolutionsАй бұрын
I use a very small tipped fine diamond and an interguard (matrix) to protect the adjacent tooth (the one that will not be prepped) and hold the diamond perpendicular to the facial as I tease the "J" shapes away. With back-to-back preps, it's not an issue. Great Question! Dr. Stevenson

as layman patient the amount of tooth structure that must be taken away to put an onlay is worrisome. There is not much left in case decays happens again. I wonder what's the total life expectancy of a tooth with onlay. I also thought it's better to preserve as much as possible enamel. But perhaps this all depends on what's left after removing decay.
@StevensonDentalSolutionsАй бұрын
Most dentists would perform a full crown, and remove more than twice this amount. I do appreciate your comments - it's good to understand what is involved! Prevention is key - avoid this altogether with good oral hygiene and regular preventative care...
@TabishRafiq-x5rАй бұрын
❤ Amazing always. But I have a Question. Margins of the preparation should be Subgingival or Supra gingival.
@StevensonDentalSolutionsАй бұрын
Place the finish line where it needs to be to satisfy retention, resistance, esthetics, and biology. Usually, it will be equigingival, but sometimes intrasulcular if defects or old materials exist.
@xiaoxiaoyanziАй бұрын
Hi Dr. Stevenson! At 10:25 you mentioned that to extend the gingival floor more gingivally we would need permission from the floor examiners, but I also noticed that the gingival clearance at that point still seems to be less than 1mm. Do we still need permission to extend the proximal box more gingivally (to almost 4.5mm measured from the occlusal) if the gingival clearance is still less than 1mm? I've noticed that due to the anatomy of the teeth that I've been using to practice (DTX ones) the gingival clearance seems to be always less than 1mm no matter how gingivally I extend the box. Thank you so much for your help!
@StevensonDentalSolutionsАй бұрын
You are correct - you may extend to 1.0 mm gingivally without approval. The rules have changed since I first made the video

@@StevensonDentalSolutions Thanks Dr. Stevenson! Do you know if we are required to remove all of the white dust that sometimes gets stuck at the DEJ? Would the examiners consider that as caries/decalcification? Thanks!!

Great job. I do recommend you no longer introduce bonding resin to uncured composite on a micro brush. There have been studies showing that it can affect the properties of the composite causing it to underperformed. Composite manufactures are recommending this as well.
Hello Dr.! Thank you for your video. Just can you tell me if prep premolar class 2 composite is it need convergine one wall and orthogonal another (depending upper/lower)?
@StevensonDentalSolutionsАй бұрын
Not necessary - the walls may be parallel or converging like the amalgam.
