That’s just about the most interesting interview of a celebrity or artist and interview process I’ve ever come across, and I’ve been on both sides of the table.

I remember finding out he was British and getting pissed off. I was jaw dropped when I heard him speak. F that he’s American, I thought to myself. It really doesn’t matter but my subconscious still believes he’s from Cleveland Ohio lol. I still love listening to an entire Palmer album not just the singles. It’s 40 years old but Addicted to Love still fills a dance floor faster than any song.

i treat my body well says mister Palmer lighting up his 50th cigarette of the day
@philosopher007619 күн бұрын
But he wasn't saying that in a general way...didn't you listen to him? He said he treats his body well.....compared to some others he knows.
@roninscholar451519 күн бұрын
@@philosopher0076 don't be obtuse. He smoked three packs a day. He was deluded if he thought that was in any way healthy. Yeah he drank too and I am sure he saw people drink three fifths a day. But surely compared to the average human being on this planet and even every person Palmer knew on the whole, he was not treating his body well. Did you skip logic Mr. Philosophy? Or are you just an absurdist? Comparing yourself to the worst and calling that good is absurd. He died at 54...
@philosopher00765 күн бұрын
Obtuse? No Mr. Insult, I was being logical as he was a celebrity and knew what they/it was trying to get out of him. The media knew his extreme ciggy addiction/habit and he was well aware such questions were asked to A. Get a rise out of him or B. Have him admit he has bad habits and/or is was not taking care of himself. He smoothly avoided being forced to give them either and simply stated a truism from his life experience: That he took care of himself pretty well compared to others he knew. And yes, I am well aware he died at 54. So? Nothing I said in my comment contradicts that fact son. He also got a clean bill of health after a medical checkup just two weeks before he died therefore, you have no clue if his cig habit in any way caused or even contributed to his death. So hey genius, guess what? Some people just die, genetics. People can be in great health and for no known medical reason, their heart just stops. This happens all the time, even to teenagers who are healthy and exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, even vegans. Got that, doctor?

Weird. Great musician, low excitement for interviews especially when as 1980's comp tech is asking the question.

Thanks so much for sharing this blast from the past - it's so interesting how Palmer answers the questions so quickly and briefly compared to most guests who sat in the chair, yet you still get to learn a lot about him...

My favorite part is what he learned about himself: "That he'd rather talk to people than machines." 2nd favorite part: That he loves God the most. 3rd favorite part: His logger joke. 4th favorite part: His take on Catholicism. ❤ Mr. Palmer I hope he is not resting in peace. Instead, I hope he is having an amazingly rockin after life... on another fabulous musical journey somewhere tremendously fun out there amongst the cosmos ! 🖖🏼 ✨️💫🌌💫✨️

This is Bizarre and Yet ENTHRALLING!!! I am sad w/ all Robert's Talent that he didn't know the Saviour of mankind and the maker of the Universes. I was able to be at a Live performance of his the year before this interview took place.

CRIKEY! I remember watching this... 34 YEARS AGO!!! Where did it go? I had hair, a flat tummy and a pair of legs that could run for miles! Look out for the 2 vids from "The Tube" in 1986, "No, Not Much" and "Trickbag". The guy simply oozed talent and class 😍

Thanks for posting this interview- so revealing of Robert Palmer’s quiet charm, intelligence, and subtle sense of humor! Just started discovering his pre-Power Station music. Totally different from his MTV- promoted image. What a soulful and versatile songwriter, singer, and performer!
