There are those very rare occasions in life when you've first heard an artist's voice and you already knew from that very moment that they would become a big massive global pop star. So if after nine months you’re still wondering, here’s your answer: the concept of the show revolves around bets. People can apply to take part in the show, if they have a specific talent. From that, they’ll come up with some sort of bet. The other part of the show are interviews with famous people. Singers, actors, whatever. Usually they’ll have on artist there, who will perform a song or an act of some sort. And those artist also take part in the bets. They have to decide whether or not they think that the candidate is able to win the bet. If they lose the bet, they have to do something, in her case vocal exercises with the audience. It seems quite silly, but it was actually a very famous show vor a really long time. At least here in Germany in Austria. Many international guests would use it as a stage to promote a new album/ movie/ anything. About ten years ago, they had a really bad accident that left a candidate paralyzed. It went downhill from there, they switched out the host and the show ended a couple of years ago. It was a family show for a very long time. Some silly stuff for the kids and the famous guests for the parents.

I think, if you ask anyone over the age of twenty from a German speaking country, they have some memory of watching it with their family on Saturday evenings. “Werten dass....” (literally “bet that.....”went on for 33 years and unfortunately came to a very sad end with that tragic accident.

I hate that she always always lips on this particular tv show each time she has been a guest. The staging and performance aspect of wetten das performances are are beautiful but the playback just makes me skip. Others sing live on this show usually always so im not sure what the issue is.

My favorite part about when she starts singing "I need a drink to get me out" is that... she sings two lines of the song, when to better prove her point in stylistic differences she'd need to sing the same line twice in different ways. But NOBODY notices this ever and instead gets the "OMG Celine Dion is singing" blinders lol they're just so excited that she's singing for them that they don't notice what she's trying to say lmao she uses the "Celine Dion is singing" blinders super frequently these days to avoid answering questions she doesn't really care to answer. She'll just burst into song and no one will remember what the question was anymore and I LOVE IT it's so entertaining
