If you use brads make sure they are galvanized or stainless.

Great video! Thanks so much!… I’ve done this before with baking soda and joint compound for indoor planters. But I need something stronger for outdoors. So I bought Plaster of Paris. But I wasn’t sure which ratios to use or if it would even work. So I really appreciate your help and if you don’t mind, I’d like to reciprocate by sharing my methods for application, which I’ve learned through trial and error- So first…primer definitely makes a huuuge difference. Second, I mix my paint with whatever hardening agent I’m using…(whether it be baking soda, flour or joint compound). Third, I apply with a brush (rounded preferably) and use a stippling motion. (Light first coat and heavier second). Lastly, I seal it with a matte clear coat just as you did. Except I use Rustoleum’s Triple Thick Clear Glaze in Matte. (Although, I’m pretty sure they’re all one and the same. As long as you seal it with something). Hope this helps even if just a little and thanks again so much for sharing this video and your opinions. (I appreciate your authenticity. It’s refreshing).

Pretty DIY. Love the papermache vase but it won't be able to hold water, right?
@beckyh85657 ай бұрын
Heads up Noelle. Cheap old joint compound in powder form is about 1/3 of the cost of Plaster of Paris and it is basically the same thing--and--has the same effect. You can get a huge bag of joint compound too for a fraction of what Plaster of Paris costs.

I do not understand the “concrete look” for ornaments… there’s no reason that those colors should be used at Christmas… it’s not a natural scheme. I don’t want concrete balls hanging on my Christmas tree! People who designed this stuff who come up with it have no concept of reality they’re running out of ideas so they come up with something stupid like concrete or stone who wants a stone looking ornament somebody somewhere said it was high end… and all of a sudden it’s the latest and greatest people don’t have minds of their own anymore. They just think they have to follow everybody else on KZbin or Facebook or TikTok or whatever you people need to wake up. Is this really a lot for Christmas honestly give me a break.

I really enjoyed your experiment and tutorial. Try exterior DAP Platinum Patch joint compound. I heard that anything intended for the outdoors should be EXTERIOR specific. I live in the desert SW so I will give it a try with DAP Platinum.
