Aye up, my next camper will be a Crafter too. Any thoughts of how to repair the rear doors by the hinges? Thats if they have cracked. Looked like they have. Cheers
@coffeethecrafter10 сағат бұрын
@@evobobber Morning, thanks for the comment & question - It’s great to hear you’ll be getting your own Crafter! Good spot, yes the door hinge area has cracked. These will be removed and re-welded, but it is likely we will remove the mechanism that stops the door from opening fully, and either using something else, or leaving it completely. We haven’t decided yet, as there are benefits to still having these door stops. We feel it would be better to minimise the chance of the door cracking again in this area, it seems an obvious weak point. Apologies for the long answer. Thanks again, Cal & Luc

Are you going to get Coffee resprayed at some point? Would you have to redo all your lovely work? 😭 Really liking the videos guys - you're making it look too easy, or you're good at editing out all the swearing 😂 Eyeing up a Crafter to replace our T5 atm. Is Coffee a LWB or MWB?
@coffeethecrafter18 күн бұрын
@@caitpelly2744 this is so kind, thank you so much - it certainly isn’t an easy process but would still recommend it to anyone, we’re loving it! Coffee is a LWB, high roof! and about the respect, we’ve spoken about maybe a half spray (two tone) - but yes, this could mean we may have to work around some of the work we have already done! thanks again for the comment, we love reading ones like these - and definitely go for it!

Hi guys, great project and wish you both well. From experience make sure you leave access to the 7 bolt holes for the side track on which the side loading door runs on just incase you need to remove the track for rust protection etc

They're known for leaking water through the side trims. You need to get underneath and clear the drainage holes. Also, take all the plastics off the side, clean up and then replace using new clips where necessary and also plenty of sealant around the holes where the clips fit in and then use sealant on the inside around the clips too
@coffeethecrafterАй бұрын
@@Pootz1000 plastics have all been removed and re-sealed - luckily none of the seals were broken, however we’ve replaced a couple of the ones that looked more worn. will definitely be getting underneath and clearing the drainage holes on the final leaky cavity - thank you so much for the advice🤞🏼

Another great vid guys.... Still looking for my own van at the mo, but been watching loads of videos like yours relating to self builds. I have seen a couple of other vids relating to the leaking panels you have and i believe possibly at one end of the channel where the water is sitting there should be a small area of expanding foam. Apparently if you use a hot soldering iron you can basically make a couple of drain holes through the hardened foam as for some reason VW block these up! Might be worth a look as hopefully this will give somewhere for the water to escape! Looking forward to the next one!! :)
@coffeethecrafterАй бұрын
@@StuGardener really great to hear that, thank you again Stu!! we always love your kind comments, they make the videos feel worth it! definitely keep looking for your own van, we took a while to find the perfect van for ourselves but we knew the minute we saw her. also, that’s really great advice, i (callum) will have a look at doing this as we have a soldering iron - i have checked today and following the new moulding sealant strategy, we have less water in there currently (not to say it’s bone dry, though). Thanks again!!
