It's 'quattro', not 'Quattro', believe it or not! 44 WMN is an Isle of Man registration number - I remember Audi using XMN 44.

Röhrl was very good and consistent, almost at the same level as Toivonen at that time, somewhat slower but safer (he made almost no mistakes and he had more experience), only one drawback was that he did not like the traditional Nordic rallies (Finland, Sweden and English RAC), and that made him a not very complete driver. A true champion goes out to win in any rally. As for the car, a lot of wonderful sound for many, but technically it was an "iron". They withdrew in the middle of the 86 season citing a lack of safety in the rallies, but in reality what was happening is that, especially from the 2nd half of the 86 season Lancia and especially Peugeot were evolving their cars at a dizzying pace and they knew that the possibilities of their car were very limited and defeat was almost certain, and that did not give them a good image.

PDK Porsche's gearbox not Audi. It was an agreement between both brands to mount it on a rally car to find out how it worked in the WRC. Porsche was testing in Gr. C on Porsche 962 in Sport Prototipes and then they will mount on road cars.

I've replaced the transmission on my urq (20vt, 6 speed) on a lift with a good wrencher friend's help around 4hours. But this, this is just madness! These guy were the real deal, the real pioneers of the quattro motorsport. Watched it numerous times, always amazes me
