As a Turk! In what way is Turkey a part of the Middle East? Geographically? Turkey's geography is very different from the Middle East and is covered with forests. There are no deserts in Turkey. On the contrary, agriculture has been carried out on its extremely fertile lands for thousands of years. The average rainfall in Anatolia is much higher than that of the Middle East. Culturally, a significant portion of Turks are Muslim. However, Turks are much different from Arabs and Iranians. Because Turks are not fanatically religious like Arabs and Iranians. Turkey is also the second most influential country in NATO. Turkey, the European Union and America act together in the effective protection and defense of NATO member countries. Although Turkey was perceived as having distanced itself from the values of the civilized world during the years of the AKP government, almost all of the Turkish people want to see their future and Turkey as a part of the West. Above all, Turkey has never been a part of the Middle East in historical and sociological terms! There is no way it could be.

When the Ottoman Empire collapsed, my grandfather and grandmother were forced to migrate from "Adakale" in the northwestern part of Romania to Anatolia. Although they lived in Central Europe for generations, they never saw the Middle East. They have no resemblance to the culture and understanding of religion of the Middle Easterners. A significant portion of the population of Turkey, especially in Western Anatolia and the Mediterranean coast, has a background like mine, and the Turkish people, a society consisting of people who look and think like me physically and mentally, have very few characteristics that we can call "Middle Eastern". This whole reality is not something that will change with the 20-year rule of the AKP, which exploits religion and admires Arabs. Because we are rapidly approaching the end of this period. In fact, in the next election, the AKP will transfer its right to govern Turkey to another political party through completely democratic elections. MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A SITUATION LIKE A 20-YEAR-OLD GOVERNMENT TRANSFERRING POWER TO THE WINNING PARTY WHEN IT FAILS TO WIN DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS!
