Best example I've seen yet of just how amazing Greg's playing is. Flawless clock, endless invention with a small palette and above all else uses his talents in a playful and creative way. He's one of the few that can make highly technical drumming fun.

What a beast! The kind of drummer that is able to make a small kit sound huge.

Thanks for bringing me back to this, haven't watched it in a while. I have seen DH more than a dozen times, for me this one was a particularly ecstatic performance.

still haven't gotten a chance to see them live. of all of the youtube videos of them live i think this recent one is notable for being the most ... i don't know if unhinged is the right word for it kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2nNeXt8mcxkqtU

Thank you thank you Connor! my Santa Fe concert gets more views because the band posted it as part of their promotion for Deerhoof vs Evil. I like this one too. It was pretty awkward doing the super 8, but I like the results. Thanks for enjoying!

I think they are two different bands. I like them both and hard to say which I like best. I'm a drummer of 30 years so I kinda like live but I like studio fun too. Someone will have to decide for me. By the way I can do about half of what Greg does after my 30 years of pissing about - hard hitter like him. He is more natural than it is possible to be :)

They adjust their playing style to the situation, the live playing rocks hard, and there is usually more going on with the drums. The CDs provide more detailed view into the compositions, with a little more focus on the "pop" side. How great that they don't try to reproduce the albums live but rather use the songs for live interpretation. In the car or at home I usually listen to the CDs, but sometimes, when I want t get really charged, I Iisten to my live recordings. I NEVER get tired of DH.

I'm now a fan! But I think I prefer their sound live to the sound on their records. Just an opinion. Doesn't mean I don't dig them though :)

that is laughable. deerhoof evokes the most immature humor in me and i wouldnt have it any other way. this isnt music to be serious to is waht i mean.

Thanks! I am working on editing three concerts since then which I recorded in Denver, Rochester and Albany. They use 2 to 4 cameras, But I don't think they'll be any better than this one - however they do have tunes from Breakup Song.

You are obviously an intellectual wordsmith with a natural sense for recognizing light humor. I bow in shame before your highly sophisticated, thought-through and picturesque remarks and put my dumb ass over your head.

Runner's Four was such a great album, long and varying. They really got rocking on that album, but still the pretty songs and fun songs like Lemon and Little Lemon, and Vivid Cheek Love Song.If you are in to it, it's interesting to count the meters/beats in Wrong Time Capsule. I think of WTC and Perfect Me as their rock anthem tunes, though there are other candidates.
