This is just so awesome. I love and cherish this song so much, I’ve been listening for years and had no idea this video even existed, it feels like a dream. This video actually provided a lot of insight on the process of producing music, both logically I guess and creatively. I’ve never really seen how albums are produced in this much detail. I never even thought about all the things that go into producing music in a studio. Little things like the distance between the microphone and the source of sound. I love seeing these guys create together. They have a real family bond and it’s so awesome to see it so raw like this. The creativity of these artists is amazing and I will always admire their musicianship. This was so awesome to see as a die hard big thief fan and an aspiring musician! This video is so special.

Do you ever produce full albums? A lot of the songs you produce have a similar kinda build and blow-out, then fuck around at the end kinda vibe. Curious if that changes when you have more material to work with.

Hey there, John. That's a great great question. When we do Weathervane recordings, they're always singles, and it's a great observation that they tend to end up that way. Amy and I did a full length record with Rachel two or three years ago, and I hope that the pattern is not there (but it might be). Outside of these projects, in recent years we do tend to record a lot of small batches of songs at any given time. I would bet the trend is there. Gosh... probably need to change things up!
@JohnGottschalk4 ай бұрын
@@BrianMcTear I mean it's a cool vibe, and I get why you do it! Just after a few years I noticed a trend in certain kinds of songs you produce. Curious to listen to a full album, because I imagine you might transfer that to the structure of the album as a whole.

Love love love Weathervane. I love your philosophy of making music. I love almost all artist that were produced by you. Tutorials (not the 8 h long walkthroughs;) would be fantastic. It’s important for us to know how hand made music is engineered and produced. A soonnlost art form. Other tutorials concentrate on Hip Hop, EDM or plain pop music too much. Maybe you could think this over. Thank you!!

Hey there... We used to entertain that idea, and even did earlier on, but frankly there's so much good info out there already? And as a nonprofit we are always on a pretty strict budget. But I appreciate the interest. Thanks!

Thank you for your kind answer. I appreciate it. But I still think, you can give something to the community that others can not. I am stubborn and hope for a slight chance;) Thanks again and all the best! M

Smoking weed with you In the leaves, in the fall In the yard with your dog, till the winter came I smoke with you, cuz you've taught me to To pass the time, in your living room And I want it with you, so you'll show me How you do find, me amusing, amusing Before your shift Talking with you, in your bed I saw Your face turn red when I said what I want Getting you to talk, to hear your ideas So shy to my friends, even shy to me And I do believe in what you tell me How you do find me amusing, amusing Before your shift Same thing today, the leaves changed again In your yard, your room No reason to leave here soon

hi! i was delighted to learn about this new hop along song as a diehard fan for years and i couldn't find anything about it online so i tried to transcribe what i could figure out :) if anybody can correct me please do! signal will go through the snow many years from now through the painted shut window through the painted shut window if i were ringing it still would be quite the apology i know you wanted (sorry) i think about you often but every family has to start right from rock bottom up and there's been too much time and i've forgotten the beginning but one time i woke up hot in the sunlight and you were gone you were gone i mean you were back on the bottom up in the bathroom of the trailer we tried to flush elvis down elvis down the toilet sure might've broke the door and screaming house stands up against a big burned-up skeleton i tried to picture you as a (child/shadow?) picture mine and think how alike a clownish teeth and open mouth is i think about you often but every family has to start right from, right from rock bottom up and there has been too much time and i've forgotten the beginning but i woke up hot in the sunlight and you were gone you were gone i mean you were back on the bottom up i think about you all the time all the time but all the time but

interestingly some of the themes of this song carry into frances' most recent album, likewise, that they published under their own name. i don't think any of the lyrics directly transfer over but writing these down a lot of them felt familiar!

@@edgarallanpoelagusmarjorita woah you did so good thank you so much! I think the ‘sadly’ part could maybe be sorry and the (???) could be up possibly. I see what you mean by how it’s similar to likewise which makes sense since that came out in 2020 and this was around then.
