Nowadays, China is comparatively safe to many many countries. I don't know what is the present crime rate in China. I just want to say that even low to 1% crime rate means still have crime there. So , tourists should be careful and be responsible for their belongings and safety doesn't matter they are in China or elsewhere.

Alex's comment about the supply change being responsible for quality defects, is correct. Once I was asked to supply batteries to a foreign company and he ensisted in 50% lower price. I warned him that the quality will not be guarandeed and he exceptted it. He went head with the order and you can imagine what happened next

New York subway system actually is pretty good compared to the time it was built. At that time it should be one of the best and most advanced subway systems. However, it has been a long time now, so any new subway system built, even in Africa, is more advanced and prettier than New York's. Technology has been changed so much in recent years.

Yeah I was shocked when I caught the train for O'hare international to downtown Chicago. It was a eye opening experience how old and horrible the infrastructure was. Then I drove the highway between Chicago and Wisconsin, and there was a sign saying firest resurfacing in 40 years. And yes, it was super bumpy on the highway.
