One of my favorite novels of all time. Also loved one of her more recent books “A Long Petal of the Sea”. Her character development is second to none.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for this, born in Canterbury, lived my formative years in Sandwich, and currently living on a narrowboat in Oxfordshire i feel my roots have been thoroughly untwisted and debunked to the current understanding of the origins of all this patriotism that we were given ,probably quite innocently, at school... I salute you sir and all the researchers that made this possible!

Really you want to try being proud of this when you come from Gillingham or anywhere else in the MEDWAY TOWNS you can insert your elitist patriotism up your bottom brother X

Enjoy it? ENJOY IT?? I listened on Borrowbox on the long drive home from Devon at the weekend and now I am broken. BROKEN!!! Amazing powerful book but I definitely did not "enjoy" the writing as beautiful as it was

Yes, an interesting choice from the author himself - maybe 'experience' would be better!

Thank you so much for this❤. I'm mexican, 100% lesbian. I discovered Madchen in uniform 1931 version some weeks ago and since then it's my all times favourite movie definitely. I got a crush❤ with Hertha Thiele and Dorothea Wieck, the first passed away one year before i born and the second passed away one year after i born, it's so sad 😢 however im so happy i met both of them in this beautiful film and i'm so interested in all kind of valious information about them like this awesome chatting. Thank you once more and greetings.😊

@@KentLibrariesArchives Do you know of any online shop where I can buy a print copy of the 1994 Virago Edition of The Child Manuela? I can't read German, but I am interested in reading the book.
