It's essentially the same group of freelance jingle singers that sing on jingles produced at all the various Dallas jingle houses.. That Dallas sound is unmistakable. It's why I rarely bought jingles in Dallas for the Dallas radio stations that I programmed. Like fingernails on a chalkboard.

A part of my youth. Living across the river in S Indiana at that time, AM radio was it for R&R until the late 70's. Remember listening listening to Bill on 790 WAKY on the way to school. Gary Burbank in the afternoon, and Coyote Calhoun in the evening.

I grew in S Indiana. We got our R & R on 790 WAKY in the late '60's until the mid '70's. Loved the WAKY lineup; Bill Bailey in the morning with Reed Yadon on the news desk. Johnny Randolph, Gary Burbank (pre WLW and Earl Pitts), Weird Beard, Coyote Calhoun...great days. My bygone youth.

She comes home feeling tired , after working hard all day He never meant for her to take a job, but they had bills to pay In an hour he'll come in, she'll have supper waiting there And by the time she gets the kids to bed Her day is gone, and she don't know where. A working woman, starts out at the break of dawn A working woman, finds the strength to carry on It ain't no easy life , when you're a mother and a wife Oh, her work is never done Years ago he'd take her, for long country drives They had a lot less worries, they had a lot more time But tonight she's still got clothes to wash and another shirt to mend And tomorrow she'll be up before the rest And start all over again A working woman , starts out at the break of dawn A working woman , finds the strength to carry on It ain't no easy life, when you're a mother and a wife Oh, her work is never done Sometimes she looks at all she doing... If she couldn't laugh about it ,she might cry But then he takes her hand , and they walk in, to kiss a sleeping child And she feels the love surround her, and it makes it all worthwhile... A working woman, starts out at the break of dawn A working woman, finds the strength to carry on It ain't no easy life , when you're a mother and a wife Oh, her work is never done Oh, her work is never done She's a working woman...

If I were that program director....I would say this..... "It is a big disappointment for all of you platform shoe wearers, and those who want to flaunt the gay drag on the lighted dance floor to the exciting pulsating rhythms over a crystal, sparking ball on the ceiling. That trend and vibe had now started to be extinct as a dinosaur. Flatlined! Disco is now no more. Also...... "It is so sad that Chic's "Good Times" was kicked off the top charts of Billboard. Replaced by The Knack, which was a rock group. I also found out that a total of 1,500 discotheques in America closed down around August 1979, and by September 1979 - about - say - 12,000 discotheques went out of business. That included about 1,000 roller rinks that were fabricated just for the disco craze. They closed down too. And through word of mouth, record promoters and radio station hosts are warned not to mention even the word "disco" anymore, because the disco craze itself, smacks of immorality and even bestiality, and also a free expression of queerness, which, sadly, in America, is worse than counting cards at a casino, where being openly gay is not only frowned upon - it could get you jumped or even badly beaten or killed. So from now on, on this radio, instead of "disco", thanks to Steve Dahl's rant, we will now focus any more disco music from now on only as "R and B", "Motown", "funk", and "soul" music. "Disco" is, for now, a swear word just like "sucks.". We will not use it on this radio station indefinitely." This is what I would say.

This is a fantastic video that showcases what Hugo was really like. I went through Hugo myself, and my father used to work for Channel 5 with Charlie Hall. I remember the moment he broke down here as they signed off for Hugo and they had to abandon the station located down on East Bay Street then. Me and my father sat there while we were hunkered down with family and friends In Summerville thinking what a wonderful person he was. The family at the end of this video is very similar to quite a few people I came across at that time who refused to believe it was that bad and they didn’t want to leave. Today we have so many major hurricanes similar to Hugo now people sort of take a different attitude. There are always going to be people who refuse to believe the truth. Thank goodness that family in Mt Pleasant was ok.

Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤❤

I was in the 7th grade when this storm hit, and I will never ever forget this storm. So many tornadoes hit as a result of the storm coming so far inland. We did not have power for almost 1 month because the entire state of SC lost power from this storm. So many homes were damaged. This was one of the scariest things, I ever been through to date. We have had other storms brush by the state but nothing to the magnitude of Hurricane Hugo.

Wow..I do remember this. I lived in Kershaw. We had winds from 6:30pm to 7am. We were hardest hit at 3:30am when the power went out. Most of our windows were blown out. I tried to put our coffee table in front of the window to block the curtians and the blinds from blowing in and out. I wasn't successful and my Daddy held on to a blanket to cover that window that was being flooded while I hammerd the blanket up with my eyes closed because the wind kept blowing out our candles. The tin roof from a warehouse building a block away was ripped off and were wrapped around the Stop sign in front of our house.

How great to see these ladies recording vocals to a cut from my favorite PAMS package, Series 30. And I love seeing the Ken R. Jingle Singers here. Ken R. was such a wonderful person. I ordered so many by-request CD packed with this series, and he even turned a few of them into catalog items. One of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with.

WTMA did a terrible job when the 1st tower collapse. No need for goofy intros in times of crisis
@thomash.schwed3662

I don't necessarily blame WTMA for sticking with regular-type programming during those early minutes. After all, there are live radio recordings from all across the country on KZbin of the initial bulletins of President Kennedy's assassination nearly thirty-eight years earlier. Each of those stations returned to regular programming during the early minutes before ultimately switching to network coverage as further details came in making the gravity of the situation vividly apparent. Even the CBS television network return to its live broadcast of "As the World Turns" in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. Early on, that's understandable. However, where I do take issue with WTMA is the extended commercial break as further bulletins were already coming in. Then again, I also didn't see the need for the television networks to take up a considerable portion of the screen for banners and branding of the coverage. It's one thing to have a network "bug" in the corner because the FCC now requires such for identification purposes. But, particularly in such a visual event as this, don't worry about banners and branding.
