just got the complete series on dvd,and am watching it for the first time in ten years. i never saw it in the original run on tv. a cable channel did a marathon of the show back in 2014,and i got hooked right away. the last scene with lindsay taking off on a free spirited journey after discovering the grateful dead has stuck with me all these years. the choice of the song "ripple" (my favorite grateful dead song) to end the series was brilliant, and had me in tears. i graduated high school in 1979,and was kind of a loner,so i know the teen angst lindsay felt throughout the series.those were some very uncertain times,much like now. even though we don't know what happened after the summer of 1981, it looked like lindsay finally found herself,and was happy. the other story lines in the finale were good,but it was lindsay's story that drove the series. great,great show! it really didn't need a second season. it did all it needed to do in 18 episodes,and became a cult classic.

just watched it on Tubi, and the only thing that threw me off was the theater stage play style of shooting. Other then that it did hit the feels...

I can attest to the uncanny accuracy of the mood and atmosphere Linklater created. I’m also from the nihilist suburbs of Texas between 93-99. I went to middle and high school in Mansfield TX and it’s like he based the location on my neighborhood. The houses and stripmalls look the same. Same 7-11 on the corner. Same odd random character types. It was a sureal time in life and this was a perfect snapshot through the eye of a misfit Texan. Good video! Lots of details and connections I never knew.

Download Festival 2014 was so excited to see Powerman 5000 but they came on right after Crossfaith whose energy is off the chart, leaving Powerman feeling a bit flat, real shame. I'd certainly see them at their own gig, a band like Powerman in a day slot I'd imagine does lose something.

Cris could tell it would fizzle out with Marcos too & that’s exactly what’s happened. They didn’t “restore ill niño” at all, just delayed the inevitable. Their live shows & new music have been sub par, the fans’ comments speak for themselves, & they still haven’t released their album after over 2 years of giving the fans illegitimate dates only to delay it each time. Now Marcos is seemingly out of the band entirely & focused on his other music projects

Primer 55 were one of the purest Nu-Metal bands, up there with Ultraspank. Whereas bands like Korn border on just being metal, which is only Nu-Metal because it has slight funk elements and some of the members used to be in a funk-metal band.
