As a footnote, I've spent a lot of time in Texas serving in the Air Force, and my time there has always been an ongoing joke between me and anyone who appreciated the implications and impressions of my time there; they have all been there and agree with the disgusting nature of the place. If you have never been there, don't bother. Texas is a shithole, and the state of mind, both cultural and political, is more than enough to encourage the state to get the fuck out of the country.
@robertzeigler96933 жыл бұрын
Given what's going on in this "Little Piece of Heaven", I encourage Texas to secede .... there are so many reasons why, along with Florida, Texas is a cesspool of creatures. Go away and leave people with brains/morals/integrity alone. LEAVE!

No apartments or townhomes in Colleyville? Well, there's the answer to why that area is doing so well. When you are vested in a property you take care of it and the surrounding area. Apartments are destroying DFW.

I was from NYC but we moved to Dallas in 70's I went to James S. Hogg school, I wish I could find my best friend Mindy Green who moved in the late 80's. I raised in Oakcliff and the best VERY BEST of all my memories are there from Elsbeth st. We used to go to Kidd Springs me and my bfrnd and friends....we'd walk there and had great times....Life was good in the 80's then.

You mean, your easily frightened??? Nothing at all would have happened to you... but if it helps your self-esteem to believe the area was dangerous, instead of acknowledging your just a coward... then go ahead, whatever works! 🤷♂️

Lived in Frisco from 1991-2017 and it most certainly doesn’t feel like a small town. Housing prices and property taxes have soared, traffic is almost unbearable and its only getting bigger. It did provide my kids with a quality education and the sports science is really top notch. We loved the RoughRiders and went every chance we got. NCAA Div 1AA (?) playoffs there every year at Toyota Stadium. Lots of shopping but just to crowded. 3600 people when we moved there. Close to 180k when we moved north of Ft Worth. No regrets.

No this person doesn’t know Dallas very well. I was in Oak Cliff at the Bishops arts District yesterday with my family all day long and it’s full of families with kids shops, tourist and the area is a historic part of Dallas with art galleries, restaurants, renovated housing with new apartments and condos going up everywhere and to me Oak Cliff is the most beautiful part of Dallas now. I live in the suburbs but I grew up in Dallas and l would move back now If I could afford to do so.

@@MrDariolett Those are just the nice parts of Oak Cliff. Drive down to the southern parts of Oak Cliff and you'll change your perspective. It's a crappy ghetto with trash littered every where and violence. Not the prettiest place in Dallas.
@MrDariolett5 жыл бұрын
@hawker : Have you been to Baltimore, Newark, Chicago, Philadelphia................. All big cities have their poor or trashy or dirty areas so to pick on one area of a big American city is just unfair. And yes I’ve been to South Oak Cliff and it it’s not any different than most other dirty or trashy cities.

The cost of living is enormous, if you earn an average salary you can forget about living here OR anywhere in North Dallas for that matter. A 2 bedroom non fancy apartment starts at $1400 per month. Its a nice place to live, but ridiculously priced for us who don’t earn physicians wages
@Jon_Nadeau_7 жыл бұрын
I'm a little surprised by that. I've googled apartments in that area and found quite a few two bedroom apartments lower than that. Some slightly under $1,000. Well anyway $1,400 is still a bargain compared to where I live in Massachusetts. 1 bedrooms start over $2,000 where I'm from.

Maybe other states are higher but for us that we were born and raised in this part of Texas is too high. Imagine houses here used to be 70k and now good luck finding those houses. For an average salary like me I have to look in Arkansas where housing still affordable. It lost the small town feel. We have no green places to enjoy outdoors much. Even if you want to go to the lake is money all about money. I was in Arkansas and there you enjoy outdoors without paying much even I found a free gun range outdoors for people to use. If I want to go shooting in Frisco I have to spend a lot too.
