From a fellow 323 GTX owner...NICE. Yours sounds absolutely wicked too. Was going to do the obligatory joke about the transmission exploding but then I saw yours is a BG.

@@LewisCollard the BG wasn’t much better. I’ve got a gt4 (now worn out) gearbox in it.

@@chrisgtx999 nice, thanks for the info! I read forum posts from years ago that this adaptation was possible but this is the first I've heard of anyone actually doing it and driving it. Time to buy and squirrel away a GT-Four box while I can still get them for when the inevitable happens? Obviously must be a pile of work to adapt, but the fact you've done it suggests that I could too if I throw enough people and money at it. Cheers!

The stock gtr rods are very strong. So I’d say 400bhp on a safe map. I was running 400 on a slightly modded vj23 and 2 1/2 inch exhaust, ported cammed head for a couple of years.

What's the weight of the car goes really well which tyres did your prefer? I'm thinking of getting some AR1’s

They are both good tyres. The AR1 are harder and the kuhmo are softer and better for sprints and hillclimbs.

@@ArronHolyoake I know, i mean without the GT4 conversion, how long a stock chocolate gearbox would last? i cant see it taking that much abuse, it would probably fail on the launch.

Probably not long at all with 500bhp and a 4500rpm launch. A shame really because if the gearboxes had been good the Mazdas would of done really well sales and motorsport wise.
