I don't think so. Today the Leviathan/monster would imo be the global corporate/banking establishment. Which likes to play God (dictating our rules) and attempts to overthrow God in the leadership of men. It must be destroyed. And it will, sooner or later. It's not unreasonable to think that the Papacy held some equivalent of this role through the middle ages, but today, it's been largely replaced by the greedy corporate/finance sector which seeks to enslave us through the destruction of the natural/spiritual realm and replacement with consumerism. Sadly, the corrupt military-industrial complex has joined forces rendering an entity more powerful than, imo, anything the world has seen before. As free men, we must keep our forces joined to keep the monster at bay. We must not succumb to fear, for the abomination seeks, at all times, to enslave each and every one of us. Only together will we not falter. (God, in this context = the manifestation of the free will of the hearts of men) Essentially, this is a story of fear against bravery. And as such I think it's highly actual today. And contrary to what they'd have you believe, the Leviathan isn't Moscow. Even though it's doing it's best to try to be.
