Firstly I believe there are mods that make Dow1 and winter assault into widescreen and a zoom out mod. (dark crusade and soul storm supports widescreen). In terms of gameplay: have 2 or more builder units, more builders can build a single structure faster, build your hero unit quickly and sent out your squads to scout and capture points quickly to gain resources. Building a ‘listening post’ and upgrading them on the captured points are worth it, you can built up to 6 plasma generators per HQ building, building another HQ building lets you build more generators, be sure to reinforce your squads to full (there’s a plus button on them) and upgrade them with wargears, ranged squads will attack from furthest ranged unit so moving squads closer to enemies will enable all units in a squad to attack. Some heroes and special units can be attached to squads and specialise in melee or range attacks, so attaching them to a squad that has the same attacking style will benefit the whole group. All factions have different ways to increase their population cap, either upgrades or building structures, when building the vehicle production structures, make sure their entrance are not blocked and set the way point away. you can delete a structure or unit by selecting it and pressing the delete button on your keyboard. The Empire doesn’t use attack dogs, instead they use Burst Drones. The are dragonfly shaped flying drones that can’t attack traditionally but moves fast, can detect stealth/hidden enemies, can attached themselves to enemy vehicles to slow them down and finally can self destruct causing damage to the attached unit and surrounding area.
