Put the damn guitar down and get yourself a drum kit -

Hmm why did you even watch. THe title even says SCRATCH PLATE, In case you havent noticed modern day guitar is about percussion, times change, but if youre really honest go see many other of my videos with no percussion. Hmm nope you havent. In todays world a guitarist needs to be able to do all things and its getting silly but thats they way it is. If our so upset about this stuff DONT WATCH it and watch something you like. I have lots of peaceful guitar stuff and never seen a comment from you.. hmmm

Curious what preamp you would recommend for the FSX5? Just need to control EQ and only have the one pickup. I want the added sound of a acoustic amp like a fishman or AER but just going through a PA without the amp. I've heard modeled acoustic amps on the Quad Cortex and similar modelers, and they really do add to the sound.
@DonAlderOfficial24 күн бұрын
you dont need a preamp, running into an AER or small amp has all that then you can take DI out of the amp. If you dont have an amp you can just run into a DI and it works fine but if you really need the extra control then get a small analog mixer with low mid and high bands any small mixer will work just fine, just make sure its analog. Int this video im using the atmos pickup system in the yamaha and a seymour duncan magmic with two outputs going to a mixer, I then run mono out to the mai mboard. Youre hearing mostly the yamaha pickup system. In other songs I bring in the magmic for percussive stuff as it has a built in mic with a dial. Im also running a big sky though the aux sends which allows me to have control over effects on each channel. My tone settings on the mixer are pretty much flat. I then have the control room left going to a small aer amp and also the control going out to a small aer amp on the right and these act as my monitors.

Caramba! Fluid and mesmerising. You have confirmed for me that the Yamaha FSX5 is a professional instrument, it produces a beautiful sound, especially in your hands. I have the FS3 and love it.

Worth noting that the textured pickguard is only on the made in Japan FSX5, not the FSX3 (although it's still a great guitar otherwise)

Hoe do you fingerpick at the speed of light like that? Is it a certain technique or are you just being really efficient with your movement? Amazing playing
@DonAlderOfficialАй бұрын
to many hours in the bedroom. That said if you noticed Im swing my wrist like strumming. I injured my thumb many years ago so dont have that nice smooth movement like most players so I adapted by swinging the wrist and then moving the fingers (along with longer nails) this allows me to pick both sides of the strings and play faster however the compromise is that the strings sound more harsh when hitting them so hard, so always trying to warm up the sound where I can. Its an unorthodox style but lucky for me theres no rules in the world of music unless your doing something specific. Thanks much I have other very fast tunes as well, search out TTJ aka taiwan traffic jam

@@DonAlderOfficial thanks for the reply! That's amazing man, it's funny cause I've recently been working on controlling wrist movements for alternate picking, I'll for sure try it. Getting upstrokes and downstrokes on all of your fingers sounds like a game changer. Thanks for the practice inspiration, keep doing music!

....................... Sad ....... look at that Saddle .... nothing there on a new guitar. No room for setup, looking for a neck reset . Good Luck. So many Luthiers won't touch a Yamaha
@DonAlderOfficialАй бұрын
well, thats a very skewed view. The first point is I have lots of nice guitars, they STAY HOME. If damaged this guitar can be easily replaced and ACTION was lowered almost to point of buzzing, it won't need a reset for many many years and after 5 years I would just get a newer guitar, That said my luthier guitars will need constant care and attention. You need to tour a bit as road warrior and youll find its not fun when. nice guitar gets destroyed from road use and repairing it is even harder. Perhaps play in some open tunings to open the thinking. There is a place for everything
@DonAlderOfficialАй бұрын
also a lot of luthiers would prefer to build versus repair and getting repairs for a Yamaha is pretty easy and lower cost. Like i said i have some very nice exotic guitars and have had to deal with repair bills I havent yet need to pay for repairs on the yamaha's I do have only for setup. The only benefit of a luthiers build is for custom features and perhaps a more lively huge sound as they are not overbuilt like the yamaha. That said I use whatever guitar I need to address this application.

That tune leaves me speechless and thoughtful. The music sounds to me like a declaration of love to nature. Thanks The guitar sounds like it has nylon strings. Is it that warm in sound in real life?

hi thanks for the kind words, yes the atmos pickup system in the FXS5 really works well, I do at the magmic for percussive stuff but not used in this video

I found this channel as I search for the Yamaha FSX5 but stayed for the playing. I just bought this guitar but he plays it much better. Subscribed. Is he using a sound hole magnetic blended with the Atmosfeel? It sounds great with lots of definition.
