Wow, i have done this trip 2 times, from Thunderer /Cach Creek/ Republic Pass, going the opposite way. That was 1980 and 1981. What memories i have of this gorgeous place. There was very deep snow in 1981, we had to rope together not to fall into the crevasses, We saw a mountain lion on the pass that was eating an Elk that had died, frozen in the snow. Still plan to go out to YP this summer to see it again.

@@Milesbehind9630 Thanks for sharing, sounds like they were great trips. Glad this could bring back some visuals. I too am hoping to get back out there and also the Tetons backcountry. Just amazing places. I’ve heard cats in the Sierra, but never seen one.

I made this hike when I was 18. I'm 67 now. Thanks for the memories!

Great video! Great footage. Exposition is good but could use a little more--maybe some labels in post-production. Keep up the good work!

Excellent video. I wish you could have seen a grizzly but good job spotting tracks.

Thanks. My cousin and his son did at a river crossing about 30 yards from where they were about to take their boots off.

Beautiful! This virtual hike is better than any real hike I've been on in the last... 15 years or so. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and nice job on the camera work. I would've almost certainly been tripped up by one of those gnarly roots.

Thanks man, ya the path was relatively flat, but they had old rock stone and boards here and there for mud issues. I did upgrade and got a dedicated camera recently, with all the greenery there is a lot to pick up in the lens. Next up is a week long backpack I did in Yellowstone.

I do, and I did that whole Barney to Peeler stretch with something pulled or slight tear behind my knee. All worth it.

Based on what he said in the into they went to snag lake first and then horseshoe both lakes have trout as I understand. It’s a beautiful park.
@kurtcameron7562 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewtucker1828yeah discouraging people from visiting is great that way the park won’t be able to operate. I don’t worry about backpackers I worry about the people staying at the drive in campgrounds coming from all around the world to overcrowd the park. If anyone is brave enough to hike into any of these lakes then more power to them. Their $30 entry fee will help the rangers clean up after the summer tourists and help maintain the trails.

Great video. We’ll be at Barney and Peeler Lakes next weekend, can you describe where you camped at Barney? Any advice on best sties at each lake? Thanks!
@bryanttinajero19954 жыл бұрын
Amazing! One question about camping the night. are you able to camp on the side of the trail or only designated areas or?
@jjfjeff4 жыл бұрын
200 feet is a standard practice. In the backcountry the goal should always be to camp in previous camping areas.

They are massive. We definitely have it on our list to go see them in person. We know the camera does not do them justice.
@jjfjeff6 жыл бұрын
It is a must destination. There are so many of them and yes, the camera captures come no where close to how massive these things are. Specially scaling up with your own eyes toward the tops.

Hey dude planning on heading out to this spot in the spring had a couple questions. 1. How hard is the trailhead is the trail clearly marked? 2. What kind of fish did you fish for in the lake? 3. Do you need a permit to backpack. Thank you!
