Fascinating as animals, with our species as to eating, some of us will not eat if under a lot of stress. For me I will miss a whole day's meal if it's really stressful day- my pets being at the vet, something traumatic or just a whole day worry. Sometimes I will fill enough to vomit. I don't deal with it too well. Some people it can be the opposite, that they will eat as a way of comfort. Comfort eaters and unfortunately become overweight or obese as a habitual long-term habit. Feeding, its mutual amongst a lot of species. I love perspective of any subject and understand one of my horoscope spirit animals, that being snakes, lol. Environment is everything and I feel more connected on those lines despite being not so relative to a cold-blooded predator lol. Royals are amazing snakes! I love all snakes, but I still love my warm-blooded sentients very much. Mainly herbivorous. I love more of connecting and emotional animals just because as to humans being we are closer to, whether you like them or not. Fundamental biological imperative vs. ego. In short, it's just our nature as emotional beings and I realize there is too much anthropomorphism around reptiles. I'm a big reptile fan but they are not so emotional and driven for affection, maybe symbiotic and as being tolerant. I enjoy that they can have Indvidual personalities in disposition certainly. I love this video in realizing there are many choices of enclosures to use depending on the animal species and trying to facilitate the correct humid environment, plastic storage bins are in! Would help me better for my Merauke blue tongue needing a high range of humidity lol. Had to buy a PVC enclosure. Glass tanks are a pain in the a🐍🐍 in order to get a consistent range of humidity 60-80% Had types of species of snakes and by far I'm in love with my first BP! I can freaking play my FF7 game and other games without him being like my last snake a colubrid, who couldn't just chill out in my lap lol. But I love my corns!! *.* I just personally feel and think it's more fact vs. opinion that snakes are a decor pet. You can tell enough when they get fed up being held and hit their threshold-depending more on the species. And at times in videos noticed people's snakes who are used to being handled end up striking out. Too much stimulation of handling. They are not a dog, rabbit, etc. Animals' behavior for various reasons and it's not unnatural it's all that they know and thousands of years of natural evolutionary instinct so no matter how tame, they are quick to remind you of their respective being's disposition. My only inquiry on the video is the substrate. It's fine and grainy and doing research, that it's not good for snakes with heat pits, that it can clog and interfere with their heat detecting organs.
@acaciaballpythons4 ай бұрын
@@SephirothWaifu thank you for the comment. I have heard this concern before about this substrate. However it is theoretical and not reality. Not only have i been using this same subtrate for 17 years without a problem, and have never heard of this actually happening, but theres also loose dirts and sands in the wild where they are from. If that had any shred of truth these animals would not survive as they are now in Africa.

@@acaciaballpythons have you thought of doing bioactive? I use the bio dudes terra firma substrate (you can make your own with sand, organic topsoil, and moss/ bark bits) I have armadillium peraccae and dwarf white isopods in there. along with soil mites and springtails. If you give them enough substrate they will also burrow and it makes them feel really safe
@readylucas6 ай бұрын
@@acaciaballpythons Also if you only use bins for snakes. Bioactive is possible but would require substrate changes every 3-6 months. No plants to consume waste. I guess u could try getting a pothos or something to grow in a bin though.

Excellent video. The only times we don't handle our snakes (ball python & retic) is the day of feeding and 2 days after. Safe handling is a must, especially getting them not to be head shy. You don't want a head shy animal that needs to go to the vet. Regular handling also allows you to do routine health checks on your scale babies. Take care.👊🏾🪖🇺🇸✝️

Thank you, im hoping there will a fair amount of people that see value in that kind of selective breeding. I definitely enjoy my babies more when they can socialize more easily
@tarantularamblings31499 ай бұрын
@acaciaballpythons I have three new BP babies from two different breeders . The first two three whole breeding operations were family run in the front room with the kids very involved. I think it shows one of the babies is very confident and wants to be out exploring all the time . The other one is a bit more reserved, but she is coming out of her shell more now . She is older so she had spent longer in a rack system than the male.
@acaciaballpythons9 ай бұрын
@@tarantularamblings3149 Oh ya that makes sense. Ive definitely gotten to a point where i ask about the snakes personality and level of chill now before i buy. The longer they spend in an opaque rack tub, unsocialized, the harder they are to work with

I am with you all the way on this .I only have four bp and i am trying to target train as well introduce choice based handling . The best thing i have done is reverse the light cycle so they all want to interact at around 4-6 in the evening .I keep mine in a garage so no natural light and a uv grow lights on for plants and inverts during the night .
