@HammaDownEnterprises keep up with the good work making informative videos. Is that caterpillar engine that you have, is it considered to be very reliable and/or rebuildable ?
@HammaDownEnterprises17 күн бұрын
@ Based on my research, and experience (I also have a truck with a Cat 1160), they are reliable engines with plenty of low end torque. However, I understand they are referred to as ‘throw away, engines. I haven’t had to rebuild or do any internal repairs on either engine yet.

@HammaDownEnterprises thank you sir. Can I ask what engine is in that there scraper? Also what's your thoughts on a b model cat that has 300,000 on it and uses a gallon of oil every 500 miles? Thinking about buying a freightshaker fld 120 that has that issue..
@HammaDownEnterprisesАй бұрын
@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248 The motorgrader has a 4 cylinder detroit. I believe it is a (4-71). 3406B? Those are great motors. A gallon of oil every 500 miles seems like a lot to me however. Especially with only 300,000 miles. Check for some obvious leaks. My 3406E burn through oil. It turned it that one of the plugs on the oil pan was stripped. The previous owners just put some permatex on it. I sealed it with JB Weld and haven't had a problem since. See if it is something as simple as that. The 3406 is a great family of engines, but I'd stay away from a leak that excessive.

@HammaDownEnterprises3 ай бұрын
The lowboy trailer is overkill for just the skidsteer. Plus, the tag-a-long is easier to maneuver through a residential neighborhood . ‘Tag-a-long/bumper pull’ is the type of trailer. ‘Dovetail’ is the sloped portion of the deck behind the axles.

Do you know what they recommend filling the gearbox with? Mine came with a grease fitting but I’ve been told to fill it with gear oil?
@hawksnest8745 ай бұрын
I was looking for the spot to add gear oil to mine too, when I first got it. However, these excavator mounted mowers are direct drive. Therefore, no gear oil required. Just make sure your bearings stay lubed.
@jamesbagos34595 ай бұрын
@@hawksnest874there’s a grease zerk fitting below the hydraulic pump but in my brush mower for the bobcat they said to take out the grease zerk and pour gear oil into the gearbox so I wasn’t sure because the excavator mower came with a grease zerk as well

@@jamesbagos3459 Ok. That's the first I heard of that. But grease and lube oil doesn't make sense to me. I am not familiar with the skidsteer mounted brush cutters though. In any event, 80w-90 Gear oil should be fine.

Take no notice of the negative comments I have two 953’s and have been operating track shovels all my working life, started on b100 internationals cat 951’s 955’s then on to the 953’s d6’s etc etc . We use them in the uk for final trimming roads motorways airport taxiway work and run a 4in 1 bucket for this. When I started I never thought I’d ever be able to level anything and had negative comments from certain people which made me more determined to crack it but I did and have been doing fine levelling for years, track shovels are one of the most versatile machines out there being able to do clearance demo load lorries grading and most things in between,the reason there not popular is there not easy to drive and not many can properly, you’re doing great taking it easy ,by the way that’s lovely looking 963 look after it.

Thanks Charlie, please tell us more. I can drive a 4in1 4x4 loader well after over 11 years, I've seen other comments like yours about track loaders or Drott's as they are often called in Australia. They can't be that hard to operate I guess the steering the hardest part, the other controls would be straight forward and you'd pick it up fast I would guess? I'm looking at logging and side cuts in steep rocky country. I wonder why many of these track loaders on YT have no rippers ? Must have rippers and a 4in1 and then a leveling bar to grab in the 4in1, your thoughts?. The advantage a dozer has it has tilting blade I guess. I really enjoy back scraping with my loader after getting a cut going as it cleans everyting up real nice, surprised the guy didn't put that in his bag of tricks.
