I've never understood people saying "we deserved to win" or "we didn't deserve to lose" after a game. You deserve the outcome you played to. Maybe it's a difference between British and American English.

I'm a Liverpool fan who was at the game. We deserved the win but it was never a 5-1 game. The sending off was why we scored the late goals.

But it was the Liverpool team toying with West Ham in the knowledge Liverpool have made a great start to the season. *They were winning it 95 times out of a hundred (off current squad form).* If things had started to go wrong, half-time switches and a kick up the team's arse and Liverpool would still almost certainly have won that game.
