I wish i knew all this in 2009 when diagnosed wuth LMS in retropertineum at age of 40, stage 3b ( operated with cleae margins both times) ...then recurred 2012..yes im still alive by God's grace but the side effects of Chemotherapys, radiation &, septecemia x 2, 18 months of ..bowel obstructions (caused by radiation & leaking bowel > hemiolectomy, illeostomy , neprectomy )... Professor David Joseph in Western Australia & my surgeons Dean Liweski, Shane La Bianca & Prof Cameron Platell are my heros. Unfortunately i left my sarcoma oncologist 4 yrs ago as he refused to allow me to have an MRI, / Cat/ Pet scan .. ( i begged for at least MRI but he refused ) i went back to radiation Oncologist ,Prof Joseph who now keeps close eye on me. Ive learnt to educate myself & advocate for myself & its tiring given LMS is rare & i live in Perth Western Australia..

Would this be appropriate for someone whose uterus was ruptured and spilled cancer during laparoscopic hysterectomy? Diagnosed last week with Uterine Leiomyosarcoma.

The stats are quite old. We need to see if there's any more updates in the last 10 years. Most that seem to end in 2014

I have had LMS since 2009. Started in my Left Thigh. 2019 10 years later went to my right lung (wedge resection).. Now having another wedge resection (same lung) in 2024. MRSA in 2009 (survived that too!). I feel blessed by God to have survived this long.

34:10 is encouraging for the roughly one third of those who managed to survive over 5 years.

Dr Chawla. Thank you for this webinar. My mom was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma. Kaiser doctors were not able to obtain a biopsy. They said the cancer was hard so not able to penetrate to obtain that specimen. Is this normal? Thank you.

Thank you for posting ! I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 & had LMS 2x. Great info. Is this available in Australia,? How can one access this testing & treatment from outside USA?I was diagnosed with 1st LMS 3b in 2009 in retroperitoneum & recurrence 2012. I'm am NED since then.My oncologist does not want me to have annual CT/Petscan anymore unless I feel pain.. which is extremely concerning for me. What is the recommended survellience for someone who is LMS NED & what test would be recommended?
