Thank you for this video. I learned a lot. I love all dogs, but the bull breeds are my personal favorite, and English Bull Terriers have stolen my heart. They are such loving clowns... and I say that in a good way. I absolutely love the personalities of bull terriers and the ones I've had always put a smile on my face and make me laugh (I consider true laughter the pinnacle of happiness). From my experiences, the one the bull terriers refuse to accept is if I'm mad or disappointed in them hahaha. They demand my love and affection constantly. The Am Staffs, Pit Bulls, and English Staffies I've had are very similar in that they cannot handle me being upset or disappointed with them, but EBT's seem to have the most clownish and silly personalities of all the bull breeds (all of them are clownish and silly but English Bull Terriers are on another level hahaha). The other wonderful thing that all of the bullies I've owned have in common is that they've all been incredible with little children, babies, and young kids. All the ones I've owned have had little kids punch them, luck them, pull their tails, pull their ears, wrestle them, try to ride them like horses and all they do is wag their tail even harder and have an even bigger smile on their face. Some of them have been rough with adults and jump on adults but those same bullies were always extra careful with children. It's so unfortunate the bad label they've been given because all the bullies I've had have been nothing but big, muscular balls of love!

@ Janedogs - Is there any documented records when the dalmatian, that most ancient of breeds, was bred/introduced into the mélange that eventually became the English Bull Terrier?

Hi Jane , are you going to do a video on the Fell Terrier, German Hunting Terrier and Heideterrier ? I appreciate your knowledge and videos on the various breeds. Are you also going to do a video of herding and working dog breeds around the world ?

At least refer to its proper full name ENGLISH BULL TERRIER ...you people do my head in!...ya don't call a Staffordshire Bull Terrier a bully do ya?..no because its full title is a STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER!!!!

Looking at ALL of the woodcuts, sketches and paintings of the Victorian Era baiting Bulldog suggests to me that there is very little Terrier in the modern Pit Bull and AmStaff, despite their formal names. We know that Bulldog was added to terriers to harden the terrier. That’s fact. I think there is very little terrier in the Irish Staffie (the gamebred dogs still used in bloodsport), the gamebred Pit Bull (which is still called a Bulldog by those who match them and the American Staffordshire Terrier. Great presentation!!

I have loved all bully breeds since i was 4! We have had staffs two English and a French mastiff. The mastiff i owned while i had 2 children under 2 years old. He was an absolute lamb with my children and yes i trusted this dog a 100 percent around my babies!

General George Patton's dog was a white bullterrier, not an APBT. His name was Willie, after William the Conquerer.

Much as I like Airedales, a wonderful breed of dog that's capable of so much - you should not gloss over the big part that dogs (and the people who produced and trained them) played in the killing/extinction of so much of England's wildlife. Otters are a necessary part of the ecosystem, and now it has been found that England wiped out more of its wildlife than any other country in the EU. It can't ever be regained. Otters are not that fearsome, and I can't imagine the horror of having them killed by dogs - same for water rats. The book Wind In The Willows is a celebration of England's wildlife, Otter, Water Rat, Badger and Mole.

The American Staffordshire Terrier up until just over 50 years ago just just called Staffordshire Terrier. It didn't become The American Staffordshire Terrier until 1972 when it was finally registered by the American Kennel Club as an American Breed. The dropped the "Bull" part of the name to avoid confusion with it's English counterpart and ancestor The Staffordshire Bull Terrier

@@AngloSaxon-yx8tk perhaps you’re focusing on the term “American” being added and I’m focusing on the AKC registering the dog.
