Colin McRae rally was my first playstation 1 game back in the late 90s.... The memory was really really enjoyable. I stopped playing playstation games and moved to PC gaming after the release of Delta Force 2 back in 1999. I became addicted to multiplayer military first person shooters from that moment onwards. DF2 is the most enjoyable shooter game in terms of gameplay even though the graphics are long outdated. I played DF2 multiplayer for about 4 or 5 years then moved on to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer, then Battlefield 2 Multiplayer which I spent almost 10 years. However when BF developers started making new games, they turned out to be awful compared to the classics. Other PS1 games I also enjoyed back in the late 90s were Tekken 3, Tenchu Stealth Assassin's, Metal Gear Solid and TOCA race driver 1 & 2. Games were actually more fun and exciting compared to now.

Sega Rally, anyone?

This game is so simple you cant even make it more simple. Not many game modes, very solid blend of arcade-sim gameplay, decent learning curve, great urge to go back and open things, no micro transactions but yet you can even take your best lap to the online leaderboard. Only thing im heavily missing is the replay function at the end of the laps and maybe some additional sound effects could improve the game: crowd noise at the start & end of the laps, birds chirping, some sections of the track could have different sound like the wooden bridges. Hopefully all these can be added via a patch. But its just a blast to play honestly, felt like buying a PS1 game in 2024 honestly.

Very good video well done that allows to realize the scam of the old school. Ubuesque physics. Flatness of the circuits. Impression of nonexistent speed. Jerky slowdowns. Shitty soundtrack. Does not reflect at all the quality of the games from Codemasters of the late 90's. Maybe a reference to the V rally games? If by nostalgia or by desire to make discover this era to the children of today. Head instead towards the Originals. Colin Mc Rae rally 1 and Colin Mc Rae rally 2.0. Or TOCA 2 Touring Cars. Today there is everything we need at our fingertips to play it on modern machines. I wish you a lot of fun on these wonders of the past.
