This was a personal side project. Unfortunately, I'd lost a lot of my video due to my PC dying so I'll have to restart from scratch. But I've gotten some new recording equipment and a OSSC so hoping I can renew doing videos again. No promises though.

Blimey, you sure are reaching to new heights, cadet! Before I say anything further and forget what I wanted tell you for some time now. The terminal where the side missions are posted, the missions actually changes every time you access it, so you don't have to wait until completing one. Not sure if you noticed that, but just to be sure that I inform you. About the Fast Travel request, it was only meant for the flight module test. I didn't mean to say never use it (although, it is wise to use it minimally, to avoid missing things along the way). Apologies for the misunderstanding. But I was surprised that you got the Test Skell destroyed, I couldn't dare anything else other than just completing the mission, but you got balls and live to tell the tale! Haha! Speaking about test, it's shame you failed the assassination attempt. You made the same mistake that I've done. We should've ran away after being spotted and I went on an full out assault without realizing I was actively doing that operation. I too am aiming to do another playthrough in the future, if not just for this. Hold a tick, Hope was unable to be registered to use a Skell in her introductory affinity mission (as of the rest of the ex-downloadable characters)? Hmm, it's been quite awhile that I haven't played the game, so I really have clouded thoughts. I see that you got that trading card game sequence. This is going to be tricky in that you will have no indicationary help on this one, because this includes NPC's that are within New LA. So you will have talk to every NPC that you can initiate a dialogue. Luckily for me, I was the nutcase that was willing to do that after every major event that has happened in the game (makes me questioning my IRL social-skills). And I caught onto it before I could start doing it. But I shall give you nudge. There's an NPC at the pool area that is complaining about this collecting, the chap is really muffed about to boot. Also a heads up, you'll need a specific card for specific NPC that want to trade with. If you need more help on this, just let me know... Nice, Alexa is finally along the ride, I bet you'll get a kick out of some after battle dialogue from her with the other characters (especially with Lin and Nagi are some examples). That's all I have for now, stay sharp out there!

I am looking forward to getting Alexa's affinity up as she seems like a character I'd like. So far, my favorite party member dialogue was between Elma and Yelv. Hope and Phog have some funny ones too.

Ay-ay, space cadet. Just dropping by to give you my highlights of your progress. About 2 streams ago, when you were starting to look for Lin's Heart to Heart, you might've not realize at the Hanger you passed a speech bubble that literally mentions of her hanging around in that particular area (and it was not a yellow one, so you got it some earlier the first time it popped up, which in turn updates your map), so it's very beneficial to eavesdrop on your comrades every once in while, I guess that's how Doug mostly gets some of his scoops, haha. Also, in one of the battles from a side-mission, you did notice that you were unable to use an art of your Skell, soon after I saw your Skell's right arm was missing, must've gotten blown off from a good attack by the Ganglion. This is where that Frame Patch is useful in this sort of situation or as I inform before, have someone in your party that can use the Repair art on foot, which I have forgotten that Hope can use such art (I should have her in my party more often than Alexa next time I can play again), Speaking of Hope... I will say, I was banging my head when you didn't let Hope pilot a Skell after she reached Level 30 (or even a level 20 Frame for the self-proclaimed chad H.B.), I guess you must've forgotten. Would have made things a tad smoother on your runs, just a tad. I must say, you one me up on entering Cauldros from Sylvalum (I was too chicken to venture deeper in Sylvalum, some trooper I was), with that I must salute you, good sir. I've done that from the sea and yes, it does look awkward when the Skell is left on a very angled hillside, which is why I park mine in vehicle mode to make it less jarring, those machines sure have strong brake pads on them for not sliding haha! Speaking on the maneuverability on Skells, they are slidy, I'll give you that, but I expected much, due to them using boosters to float in the air, maybe Monolith Soft designed it to purposely make on foot feel distinct from piloting Skells (and possibly too far of a distinction for many) or maybe I'm more tolerable or that I'm more fanatic about it than I should be. But I will agree that cave with the pillar system that you have to do some "jerry-rig" platforming. I had to completely forgone what I learnt from normal platforming of decades just to get good at it in this game... Took me longer than you, but once I learn the flow (and it was hard, so I can't blame you), it felt second nature. Next time Monolith Soft, ask Nintendo EPD for "some" guidance on platforming. Btw, if you have a good eye on your fuel gauge in a certain weather condition (specifically in Sylvalum and Noctalum , you might have notice something. As well, I can't wait for you to experiencing those "super" weapons for Skells! I really do hope you acquire the flight module soon. If there is one thing would I ask of you (and begging on my knees) is that that when do get it, that you avoid fast-travelling for that initial flight, it is such an... ahem, I may have said a tad too much and too soon. And I would understand if you decline my request. What I can leave you with is that you can do a Free-Fall maneuver in flight mode (by pressing both shoulder buttons), when you want to save on fuel while descending altitude. Well, I guess this is all that I have to give at this. Stay safe on your missions, cadet.

As always, appreciate the advice. I couldn't assign a Skell to Hope yet as she was only a guest party member. I noticed some new characters you couldn't put in a skell until you get the option to recruit them freely on any missions. Since this was the first affinity mission where you meet Hope for the first time, it wouldn't let me put her in a skell. Same thing happened with Boze with his first affinity mission where I meet him. I didn't bother with HB as his level was still low and I was too lazy to head back to NLA after he got enough levels to pilot a skell.

Glad that you're doing well again, comrade. No audio? No problem... As long as the commentator can be heard, it's good for me and I got my handy playlist with me for any Skell action you're engaging. I see that you still haven't figured out (or maybe forgotten) that in a battle (by pressing the Start button) you can command your teammates or individually, such as get in or out of Skells, gather around you, keep tension points high, etc... Also, this is the only way you can use the "consumable" items during the battles. By the way, even when you're fighting in a Skell, be mindful of your party members who are still on foot. carry the fight on shallow water (dry land would be ideal) so they can help too, they might not pack as much fire power as a Skell, but even a small support can can make a difference... You should pay more attention to the attribute resistance of enemies, I noticed the Coral Purgowent are very resistant to any fire/blaze weapon attribute, you can actually learn that from the Enemy Index, provided you've already beaten the specific enemy. GP stands for Gear Points, just a refresher, they act as Tension Points when piloting Skells. Well, I'll be signing off. Stay sharp out there!
@Zeromuskai
@Zeromuskai 2 жыл бұрын
I have been using the short cut commands but haven't really seen the need to use the NPC commands except on occasion of gathering them together to lure enemies or tell them to build tension. I did notice that that's where you can use consumables when I did some leveling yesterday. And I also did figure out GP during that time too. I haven't looked too much into elements because I haven't had to many issues with battles yet. I'm sure they will start being important but so far, it doesn't seem nearly as necessary. I still appreciate the tips though. There is a lot of hidden mechanics in this game that never really get explained.

Ah, another space explorer. Salutations space cadet! Have been watching you playing this game since it's beginning playthrough (Being forced to stay in the sideline, due to trying to fix my Wii U). Congratulations on acquiring a Skell. I hope you don't mind me giving you some pointers about the Skells themselves, the other characters can only use them when they reach Level 20, which coincide the one you're gifted by com. Vandham is a Level 20 you start with. Unfortunately you already sold that one, so now they have be at Level 30 to use. Speaking of characters and Skells, some of them actually have a preference that they use. Lin is very fond of the Urban models and Elma goes for the Verus... I find it funny that you were puzzled by the smaller indigens aggro'ing when riding the Skells, yes, they don't take it kindly to be run over, even in the walking form and they actually get hurt (can be killed without drawing a weapon). But this only happens to the very small ones. The Skells can feel very unwieldly to drive in their vehicle forms at first when making turns, but that's logical when you make a sharp turn as you're at top speed! Haha... There's a method to make that sharp turn at high speed simply by transforming to walking-mode and than back into vehicle-mode. That jump off the large gap in Noctilum you thought at-first you couldn't make it with the Skell, but in the end did got across, although barely. If you've done with a sprinting start, it would've been easily cleared. Also, during you Skell gear shopping, it should be wise to use the "toggle display " (bottom right corner of the screen) so you actually see which weapon goes with what coloured arts before confirming the buy. Now, your Formula is equipped with 2 blue arts, instead of 1 blue and 1 green (side arms basically acts as your auto-attack, so those don't have arts applied to them to even out, unless you're feeling bold. Also some of the Arm Weapons (beam shields) you notice have the same properties, FOR NOW. Once you put in enough miranium to Arm Manufacture development, they will have differences and I would suggest you dump all of the miranium to them in one go once the storage limit hits. It is such a waste the next excavation comes up, but can't collect anymore because the storage hits it limit when your on the go... Speaking of arts, let me go into Skell Combat. That first battle, your Skell lost a right arm, there are green arts that actually restores Skell's appendage (better read those art's descriptions), but I can only remember the one you can use on foot. So in any chance your Skell looses an appendage during battle, simply get out, fight on foot, use that particular art to restore the appendage and jump back in. It may be a riskier maneuver, but so satisfying to pull it off, to me at least. Or have someone in your party that has such art, order them to fight on foot until they use such art (he/she must be a fan of Skells just as much as Lin?). You can also use overdrive while using a skell, that also restores a loss of appendages. Some enhancements/invulnerabilities from overdirve depends which models you are using. Plus the bind is very useful, it's basically act as a free hit for your other party members (who's not doing the binding) and some arts takes advantage of the maneuver. Okay, that's odd. The cutscene should start playing automatically when you reached the destination at the beach, even when you're in the Skell. That never happened to me before. Well, I think I've given you more than enough tips to let you have more enjoyment out of this game. Given my comment, I think you would've guess by now I am very fond of this game. Never thought having a second screen would've feel like a Godsend for this type of game and I feel Monolith Soft could've gone even a little further with the gimmick (and my wrists were hurting due to an injury at the time I was playing, but I was having too much fun with this game that it was a non-issue). I shall let you off of your expanding excursion, if you need anymore advice, don't hesitate to use your comm. device and see you on the next horizon (Xenoblade Chronicles X Playthrough).

Thanks for the tips. I did figure out some of what you mentioned as I was playing but that part where nothing happened when I arrived at the location really confused me. At least restarting the game fixed it but it makes me wonder if certain cutscenes won't play if I arrive on location with a Skell. I haven't sold the level 20 Skell. It's still in my hangar and I think I couldn't assign it to Gwen because he was still under level 20. I wasn't aware there was certain affinities or preferences for Skells for the other party members. Does that make a difference in stats?
@triplemmm8398
@triplemmm8398 2 жыл бұрын
My apologies @Zeromuskai , I only wanted to find out about those to obtain more lore purposes after I had finished the game, I have not payed attention to know if it will affect their affinity stats or not. About that beach cutscene, my only hypothesis could be due to how long the game has to load it's presets on the game's landscapes and assets and probably reaching with the Skell was a tad too fast for the game to keep up, never knew a cutscene could also be affected. And I did not download the data packs for this game, which it's even more perplexing to me (and was afraid for your playthrough). I guess I also should have to be careful whenever I do my future playthroughs. You still have your gifted Skell, I must've payed less attention at that point in time... Well, Gwin (not Gwen, still cracks me up!) and the others doesn't have to wait too long for the hand-me-down. I forgot to tell you about the Skell insurance tickets, each Skell you buy will automatically comes with a total of 3 insurance tickets, once all are used up, have to pay for the repairs and it's a hefty price, you salvage more of them using the rewards tickets you obtain from the squad missions (if I remember correctly). Best part here that when your party members have their Skells destroyed, theirs shall be repaired free of charge and no loss of tickets from their Skells. Just make sure you go back to the "Barracks Hanger" for it to happen.

Because I bought the Japanese Premium Edition version for myself. But I know a few people around me that were still interested in seeing the game. If people are interested enough with the game, they can pick up the Asian version with English text. Who knows, if more people like the game, maybe we can get Bandai Namco to bring it over to the NA market.

>one of the best way to measure your understanding of Japanese culture is by watching their comedy/variety shows Unfortunately Japanese live comedy, and stand up comedy in particular, is godawful. It's almost painful to watch. Anime comedy is often quite fun, but live...much the same way as seyuu skills are quite amazing in anime, but actual live actors in Japan are horrible. Korean and Chinese TV is on immeasureably higher level, by comparison.

I wasn't really thinking of getting every single quote that you can get in a stage. When I'm playing, I'm only thinking of letting the characters I'll most likely use gain as much exp as possible. In retrospect, I probably should start considering using certain characters to finish off bosses to get those special quotes.
