Can someone give more context to the 2.5 area over Swan Beach? (Timestamp 1:55). What is difference about Swan Beach?

Edward is referring to an area between where parking begins (roughly around MP 14) to the north end of Swan Beach (MP 17) where there is a restriction on the driving pattern from 9 AM the Friday before Memorial Day until 5 PM on Labor Day where traffic must drive closer to the dune line and cannot be drive on the Foreshore ( the area cleared by the last high tide) between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM. I am a man from the Arabian desert. I have a piece of advice. You can drive in the sand even in a Camry. Just make the tires inflated from 8 to 10.

It is possible, but only for a few long time residents that were living in the area before access through Virginia was restricted in 1972.

Thanks for sharing. Your videos have some of the best info and tips about driving on the NC beaches. We'll be down there next week and plan to drive our Subaru Forester on the beach for the first time. I already have my tire gauge and portable air compressor in the back. Lol. Our plan is to take a horse tour first and then decide if I'll be brave enough to drive the Forester out there.

Just make sure you lower that tire pressure! That is the most important think you can do! We see lots of Foresters on the beach.

I'm curious if you have seen any cybertrucks get stuck on the beach yet?

We've seen quite a few Cybertrucks on the beach this summer but we haven't seen one stuck yet. All makes and models of vehicles can get stuck if the tires are not aired down appropriately so we expect we will see one stuck at some point. Air down and cruise easy!

Hi There! We see a lot of Foresters on the beach here. The older ones are a little lower to the ground but don't typically see them having many issues. Make sure you drop that tire pressure down to 15psi!

I wish I would have seen this before today. I got stuck in the sand driving a GMC Acadia, didn't lower my tire pressure. It was a complete disaster! Luckily someone helped me instead of getting a tow. This is a very informative video!

After jeeps and 4Runner now in Outback Wilderness edition. Great drive system. Was out on brigantine beach yesterday and it did great. Have Cooper ATs on and aired to 25psi.

Stayed a week there for my granddaughters wedding. Loved it. Great place to stay. Just be prepared for the 4 wheel drive. The horses coming through in the morning are incredible. Just beautiful to watch

ive seen people say 4WD is perfectly OK but AWD is a hard No but if you have locking diffs like on my kia sorento its basically the same as 4WD regarding traction. I would not recommend AWD without locking diffs because with open diffs if just one tire is stuck or is in a hole and spins freely your basically losing all traction on 3 other wheels. but if you have locking diffs, from there its all about the tires, ground clearance, and more importantly your skills. my friend goes surfing in assateague withe a range rover evoque all the time. awd and only one more inch of ground clearance and same weight but he always stops to air down tires and never got stuck, but he's always going to the same beach. shirter wheelbase would help off road but in a flat beach it's not going to matter that much. I know some peiple get stuck even with bro trucks so take my advice with a grain of SAND... basic skills would be trying to keep constant speed, stay sharp looking fornsoft sand, stay where its flat, avoid off camber that could send you sideways, only stop/maneuver/u turn where the sand seems the most compact, dont try to power through the sand unless everything else has failed

Oh it looks so wonderful out there! Currently snowing on the west coast, inland about 70 miles. The beaches are not getting snow, thank goodness! It’s spring break here, so people want to be out and about. 70° sounds wonderful to me. ❤️⭕️❌

Air Pressure is the truly important factor in beach driving! Edward has driven his Outback on the Hatteras beaches as well. Just make sure the vehicle you choose is in good working order and has appropriate ground clearance. Most importantly, don't forget your tire gauge!
