I'll always bleed Bigfoot blue when it comes to Monster Trucks but the more I pay attention to Outlaw and Mike Wine the more impressed I am, that dude was independent as far as I know and still kept up with the big boys. He ran hard, kind of like Dennis Anderson, when in doubt throttle out.

Incredible night. We were in the first row behind the taped off seats at turn past the finish line. It poured buckets at the end of the night and many people left. We knew there was a good possibility of it raining so we brought a roll of large trash bags which we wore and handed them out to those still around us. Mud was flying on us and over our heads. I was learning how to take low light, action shots with my camera. Have a few rolls of film and some great photos. Good times.

This had all the biggest trucks/drivers of the time. If there was an event that would be considered a World Championship race in 1991, it would be tough to find a better field than this.

Nice final. It was the only race the winner really felt any pressure or danger. And Warrior did a great job in both events considering it was an old-school truck (heavy, and a dated suspension).

Great track, lots of space for the trucks and enough obstacles. Respect for those still using the old leaf spring suspension and stock frames (closer to an actual truck), despite the big disadvantage in performance compared to the most modern vehicles.

Who doesn't like Fastrax? It seemed to "swim" over the cars instead of jump and crush them. Too bad it was sold and the new buyer didn't keep it as it was... Bob Chandler making a joke was priceless.

Some great action by the big Bigfoot (very nice onboard ride in the 8-shaped track), but the little Ranger and Shuttle are amazing too. Cool movie cameos as well. I recorded that Roadhouse scene in my VCR long time ago, before the internet era.

Not sure if this was the show I went to as a kid, but we were up in the nosebleed seats. The exhaust fumes from the methanol being burned was pretty nasty, I vaguely recall the fact my eyes constantly watered the later it got. Not sure if it was this show, but winter time, January-February late 80's. Probably a different show, no mud pit. Remember one of the trucks overshot the end, killswitch was triggered but the monster truck slammed the end of the area.

I was there for the Friday practice as I recall. One of my greatest regrets was walking through the pits, which were quiet at the time, and seeing a guy in his race suit, sitting on a table, kicking his feet back and forth like a kid. Paul Newman. I didn't have the balls to walk over and talk with him. I since learned that he LOVED talking about cars, so I had an easy in, but was too shy. I think about that every time I see one of his movies, sigh...

That clip of The Equalizer exploding was in the Tuff Trax intro for a while afterward. To see it in its original form is pretty surreal, to say the least. Also, note in several shots Stomper just parked off to the side, likely for an exhibition run judging by the crush cars nearby.

Amazing to watch this, I remember this race, I was only 3 years old but was there, we were die-hard on the 2.1L Ford Probe, m Pops raced the Ford Pinto 2.3L I currently race in SCCA ITB, that weekend Lyn St. James had let me sit in the Probe of Kalus Ludwig prior to the race of which I still have photos of, I also had Lyn recently sign those photos at Laguna. Great Memories that cemented my love for racing.
