Love your videos I’m from the U.K. but live in Japan and mostly do ocean fishing around Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa Would love to come out to Hokkaido at some point and find some of your great river spots so I could learn more about river fishing. Would love to catch some trout! Thanks for the great videos!

Ever consider not fishing in the wild & leave nature alone. When you are having the fun & thrill of fishing. Anglering the fish mouth & tucking them in causes immense pain to the fish. We believe there are always KARMA for one's action. Causing pain to other beings is one through ignorant. Ever seen babies born with deformed mouth & have to do painful surgeries to fix their mouth?????

Your last comment is about what fish tastes nice 😂

Consider putting Cat Fish, Wild Cat Fish is very delicious (steam with seasoned soy sauce, fried garlic & ginger), Marble Goby in cantonese Soon Hock & Empurau Fish.

There isn’t much in the lakes it’s well protected and hidden check out Wildyak fishing though! They offer charters!!

I was sad you didn't continue fly fishing the rest of the way... It felt like you could have done some damage with a Tenkara rod. I must admit being a a purist who thinks salmonids should be caught on the fly. Great video though.
@japanesefishingadventuresАй бұрын
Yeah mate, I hear you - Shin isn't really a fly guy so I took the lures mainly because I wanted to be on board with what he is comfortable with! But I do similar stuff in my own neck of the woods on the fly! Would add, those big Amemasu (char) seem to feed hard on vibration rather than visual baits which is really interesting! Their lateral line is bigger than what you see on other Salmonids and I assume thats why! But thank you for your kind words mate and there will be plenty of fly videos to come in 2025!

My good man, you snagged me in....have been very curious about Hokkaido. Note: look if you want the viewer to just enjoy the stream and all its natural bounty, please lose the narration and the music...and lay in the natural sounds. Then your title will be a natural attraction. Looking forward to that!! Thx
@japanesefishingadventuresАй бұрын
Appreciate the feedback and I will consider it for future videos - it's a fine line sometimes to strike between the visual and the auditory, but I will try to strike a better balance! Hokkaido has some unbelievable fishing and its honestly worth investigating and we are here to help!
@lochiecromieАй бұрын
if you didn't tighten the drag you would of had a photo with it!!! Especially when fishing light. Dammit! Why do people hold the spool or tighten drags when fighting huge fish. Its literally why we buy expensive reels so we have a smooth connection between us and the fish to land it. bummed for you.....
@japanesefishingadventuresАй бұрын
Hahaha mate in hindsight now I agree with you completely, but at the time the fish was heading straight for a snag that I knew was there and if it got there it would be gone anyways! Should also add that the reel was on its last legs and the whole situation was somewhat remarkable! 3 mating pairs of this fish live in the whole river system (with most of the fish living in the brackish waters of the estuary) Aye you win some you lose some! Not one to get upset about losing fish in truth, great memories and pushes you to try again!!

It’s pretty regulated in terms of catch and release - historically these fish were netted, now they aren’t but it’s pen to catch and release anglers. I was the same, not a massive fan, but seeing the care taken over the fish I felt reassured! But 100% see where you are coming from!!
