Here's a fact most people are oblivious to: We (US) did not win the cold war. It never stopped and yes, Russia is still one of our worst enemies. Worse than ever actually.

I think you should've shown stills from the movie instead of yourself on camera.

I've made enough songs and videos to know that would not be left in unintentionally. Right at the end, no less. I'd work hours to "fix" that, but it wouldn't take me hours to fix in my work. Scorcese, wouldn't be happy to leave that in, and for him, it would be easy to fix or have fixed. I'm 100% this was intentional. If it had arisen by accident, initially... it's remaining there was intentional. A decision. So planned or as pleasant surprise. Scorcese included it. Why? That, I have no idea.

I refuse to choose my favorite Hitchcock film but this is up there at or near the top. Question: Could this film be remade. I'm not sure it could be. Has it ever been remade?

The sadest part for all those who sacrieficed their lives is to have john wayne, a known draft dodger, (films before country) to portray one of them.

I worked with a person who was a broadcaster at the game the movie was based on. Indiana Basketball is legendary, just like Texas high school football.

Technically Potter DIDN'T need punishment under the Hayes code. What he did was immoral, not criminal. Because he didn't keep money that was lost, he kept money that was given him. Iif you, as a private citizen, are handed $8,000 you have no legal obligation to verify that the person who did so intended for you to receive it. Nor are you obligated to give it back. He was absolutely a POS, but THAT is why he got away with it, despite the Hayes code.

Like the tribute to Monty Python in your opening. When I was a teenager, we had a neighbor who'd been a POW in Germany and he didn't like to talk about it. I learned from his son that his dad's toes had been crushed by the Nazis after an escape attempt and that the prisoners had to live off of stray cats toward the end of the war when Germany had little food available.

This was great fun to watch. I didn't know this was the first film that Jimmy Stewart made after he served in WWII. My sister is a huge fan of IAWL so I'll send her the link to this; I know she'd enjoy it.

PTSD? I don't think so. Per Donna Reed's daughter, after his experience in the war, Jimmy Stewart felt acting was a trivial thing to do and didn't want to go back to it.

I loved this movie for decades. Then I read Jimmy Stewart’s Autobiography, in which he detailed his friendship with J. Edgar Hoover, and how Stewart regularly called Hoover to turn in people he “believed were secret Communists.” Naturally, those individual’s lives were destroyed, they were blacklisted, never worked in Hollywood again. I haven’t watched any of his films since.

One of my top five movies for Christmas is Stalag 17. At first you wouldn't think of it as a Christmas movie but the story ends at Christmas time and when the soldiers are trying to do their best to keep their spirits up during Christmas by having their own party, it's worth watching and remembering all the soldiers of past wars who had to miss Christmas from home.

It’s a Wonderful Life is my favorite. I used to watch twice on Christmas Eve when my children were little, while wrapping presents and putting them under the tree. That must have been during those years you were talking about that tv channels could play it a lot.
