I have the F-150 with yhe generator, and a Jackery. Do you think I need the dometic battery also?

We bought a different brand cooler and 3 batteries just in case, we never needed to use them after 4 years. ( on sailboat ) If not too expensive, I think 1 might be a great backup.

@f5debris cool, just used it for work today. On my way in, I put the Jackery on my truck generator. It charged up the 20%, while keeping the dometic running. Loved my 1st experience.

Had mine for a couple of years and it truly is a game changer. The Dometic cover is expensive & hard to find, but it’s worth the investment to not only protect the crazy expensive fridge, but it also adds a layer of insulation. At the moment I’m trying to figure out if I need to do anything to run it on 24V, instead of 12. Not sure if I can just plug it in a 24V receptacle, or if there’s a step involved.

Dometic CFX coolers have doubled in prices post C19. I remember shopping and pricing them to get one for a semi truck to eat less fast food or overpriced truck stop food. I want to say these were in the $700 range back then.

You said 1.43ah per hour of use. Is that as a freezer/fridge set up? Do you have an idea how much wattage it used in a 24 hr period. In trying to size this unit for a new solar set up. Currently I have 400watt system with a 200ah gel deep cycle battery. Any data will really help. Thanks alot
@TheDataDispatch
@TheDataDispatch 10 ай бұрын
I believe the 1.43 is as a fridge/fridge on their website (it footnotes as ambient 90 degrees, internal 39 degrees). I did one test ages ago where I filled the fridge up with cold water bottles and ran it off my old Ecoflow Delta battery (~1200 watt hours) and got ~73 hours out of it (which I calculated to be 16.8 watts per hour). I recharged my battery and set one side to freezer and got 35 hours out of it (which I calculated to be 35.3 watts per hour - effectively doubling my consumption). This was indoors so call it 72 degrees ambient. I will say, strictly anecdotally, unless it's just absurdly hot outside (I live in Texas so I mean like over 100 degrees) my battery is basically always at 100% with my 100 watt solar panel hooked up at the end of the day running as fridge/fridge if it's sunny outside. Hopefully that helps somewhat.

just today got this tent free off craigslist. haven't pitched it yet; but there is a issue with one of the poles. the prior owner already had one pole replace; got it at "louisville sluggers" . i don't know if they sell these still. anyhow, he did say that the tent dries out really quickly after a rainstorm.

You didn’t talk about how to use the buttons on it at all, nor did you really explain the remote and you spent way too much time (in my opinion) talking about your uses which is useless because everyone has common sense and can think about what they’re going to use them for, they don’t need you saying “if you have a hatchback you can hang them back here, if you have kids you can make biking safer, and then you use the remote without explaining what buttons you pressed, once again talking about obvious redundant information instead of the only information someone would go to youtube for

That thing saved my life. I was sailing from Australia to thiland and was cougt in a huge storm. I thought I was going to die 100 percent. A huge wave broke my sailboat. My mast broke. Then my rudder broke and fell into the ocean. I ended up beaching in lombok. I lost count of how many days I was at see. I had beans and ground beef the whole time. Chili. Every day

I love it for camping/overlanding but we’ve used it to save food for power outages, transport meat that we get from my father in law, used it for overflow for the freezer, etc. it’s definitely really big, if they had a smaller one with the duel zones I would have done that. It’s nice to be able to shut one side off if you don’t need it.

I have the same unit that you do. With two gel batteries and a 300 watt solar blanket I can run this on a summer day even on a heavy overcast day. I set the large side as the freezer set to 17 degrees and the smaller size as the refrigerator set to 34. With the freezer loaded up I can manage two weeks boondocking.
