Awesome system - looks like fun! What is that slotted aluminum stock called? Would love to build something like this.

The first thing that came to my mind is that the tails of the bikes should be connected together with a rod to prevent torsion on the front forks.

the point in using rail is to reduce friction between the wheel and the track/road. Make a steel bicycle tire that hogs the rail making as little contact with the metal as possible.

Very cool vid. I got into the habit of placing a stone under a wheel when stopped as often my rail-bike would roll off LOL, on a slope barely perceivable. So friction free 👌

That's funny, I actually do the same. If I don't, it will roll away.

I thought so too, but I'm actually going back to the smaller roller blade wheels. Softer and less interia. These are too big and hard.

Very Cool. I have ordered up the caster and the universal mount. Here we have the Niles Canyon Railway that follows the original Transcontinental Railroad rail bed from Sunol to Niles, and eventually, to Pleasanton. They run steam locomotives too. One question - How do you lock down the front of the bike to the rear so that it does not pivot and the rear wheel stays on the track? Cheers 🍷
@Suluk46
@Suluk46 21 күн бұрын
Sounds awesome. You don't need to lock it, the rear wheel just follows the front.

First, brilliant work here! Dan D. is so approachable... have you considered offering your 3-D connector designs to him? My guess is if you did, and if he might sell them, a lot of people would buy a conversion kit. I just put my money down on the the new stand alone 1P, but I also own the 1P Solid... I would gladly convert and pay for this upgrade. The one I just reserved is great for summer / warm camping , but the 1P solid is almost a 4 season tent. This would apply to thousands of already sold tests out there... Thoughts? Very nice and thanks!! Tony, Carbondale, CO

Engineering question. If you put guides on the front and back of the front wheel, can you eliminate the need for an outrigger?

@Suluk46 oh, I got the idea from one of your videos where you said that back wheel follows the front. So as long the front wheel stays on the track, so should the back. Hard part is getting it rolling.

Depends how heavy the overgrowth is. Tracks tend to be easier to ride earlier in the spring after the winter kills off all the weeds.
