IMHO the most significant real life difference is the fuel leaking onto the street and then ignites. Would Blaue Cut reach this fire beneath the car or would it end up as a permanent reignition source.

Can the pressure switch be used to cut power via a relay for example?
@desktop3d2 жыл бұрын
Is that a Lack Enclosure?
@jessiemckinnon2 жыл бұрын
A 3D printer fire is electrical in nature. It typically would be caused by a faulty thermistor in the heated bed. This suppression system would likely put out the initial fire, however doesn’t cut power to the heated bed, which would likely just catch fire again when the CO2 or whatever suppressant that is used dissipates.
@sameshirtdiffday2 жыл бұрын
you could always use the version they sell with a pressure switch on the end to shut down the equipment. it is pretty slick.
@bensdemosongs2 жыл бұрын
@@sameshirtdiffday hey so how would you hook that up then?
@watchm4ker Жыл бұрын
That depends. Most control boards and firmware have pretty decent fault detection and cutoffs, and will quickly cut power if any anomalies are detected. As an example, I managed to burn a print bed by sticking a washer between the bed's contact and the cable end. The moment the bed arced, the controller locked the outputs open and blared an emergency stop alarm. I lost the print bed and build plate, but the rest of the printer and the electronics were fine. But I have also heard that cheap printers - Creality was NOTORIOUS for this - lacked space on their microcontrollers for safety measures like Thermal Runaway protection, and really can be fire hazards.
@viljamip6 ай бұрын
Sometimes MOSFETs and SSRs used for controlling heaters fail closed circuit meaning the control board cannot turn off the heater even if it tries to. For this reason I have a Raspberry Pi (in Klipper setup) control a relay which can cut off mains power from the heatbed and 24V and 48V power supplies in case of an emergency stop. I use the same relay for turning the printer power on and off during normal use as well.

I'd like to see it with a running hot engine. It looks great for putting out the initial gas fire, but I'm afraid that a hot engine with an oil fire would re-ignite.
@pavel9652 Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Look at the example with a regular bonnet, without plexiglass windows. You can't see any fire when the system discharges about 10-15 seconds into the fire. The auto-ignition temperature for gasoline is 246°C. Normally the engine bay would be burning even for several minutes until it would be apparent there is a fire. Another issue is electrical discharge, if there is a circuit shorted the battery would have to be automatically disconnected. As long as fuel lines aren't burning and the engine isn't compromised, it should be ok.

At 15 seconds it's too late. I've seen actual fire spread out in 5 seconds. This system works in close proximity to the fire but, once it has spread, too late.

Response time concerns me, also, but in an enclosed space, like a 3D printer enclosure, or electrical cabinet, this should be effective.

If for instance the red pipe of fire suppression is punctured or eaten by rat that what will happen. It will be a disasters, or if sensor start malfunctioning due to dust or long time than how will it operates.
@sultanmohammed29493 жыл бұрын
The detection tube is built to work and is usually tested. If it fails automatically the system will discharge, if eaten by rats, that's not a problem related to the system's operation. There is no sensor, the activation is done through heat detection. There is a maintenance schedule always that has to be followed for any automatic system.

Once all of the agent is released, then the system stops on its own...you have to recharge the system after it goes off though
