I raised a nightborne toon from start to end just to get the heritage armor, then made my Nightborne my mage and deleted my blood elves mage. I personally believe Arcane magic is far superior to fire and Frost magics. So, from an RP perspective, my Nightborne mage is 100% Arcane spec, and the racials aid in reflecting this.

Personally speaking, Blizzard could have dropped the damage of that one racial and added a knockback instead, then have the slow place after the knockback.
