An excellent sermon. One school of thought suggests that the wise men may have been descendents of the Israelite nobility (Daniel 1 v 3-4) who subsequently stayed on Babylon after the end of the exile. This would have given them access to the writings of Daniel and other sources, and would explain some of the context of their search for the Messiah.

When you are filled with the Spirit, you will have a strong desire to please Christ and do God's will. You will repente from your sins and long to be free from the bondage of sin. You will desire to know God more and more. You will long to obey your Lord Christ. Thanks for sharing these precious services!!

How do I be filled with the Spirit? We all drink of the same Spirit. Jesus says that all who come to Him and believe in Him will never thirst. God call us to drink of Him who is the fountain of living water. So, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we need to drink and drink. Read God's Word more, listen to the God Sent preachers of His Word. Man shall not live on bread alone but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God. Look at Isaiah 55. Come to Me all you who thirst, says our Lord. Listen to Christ everyday and pray to Him always. If you are not thirsty for God, if you dont desire that He speak to you, then ask Him to make you thirsty for His Word, for this can only happen by the power of God's Holy Spirit, God Himself!!

Wounderful Word of God and very precious, thank you for your faithfulness to our blessed Lord Christ! There is plenty of suffering in the world, but how much more in the Church, for being followers of Christ there is persecución bring hated by the world and even being hated by our very own family members. Also we have the flesh, the world and the devil to battle with everyday. We are attacked by the devil and without the grace of God we will be overcome, but thanks be to our Lord for the strength He gives in these stressful times. But how wounderful it is that in all our trials, we have an unspeakable joy because we are loved by God our Father and Christ our heavenly bridegroom. Praise the LORD O my soul! May God give us tender hearts for the suffering of our brothers and sisters, that we may minister comfort and exortacion, for we are all in need. May God abundantly bless you all and give you all strength to overcome the wiles of the devil. Pray always and read God's Word daily, watch less t.v., less reading of novels, be careful how you spend your free time, remember, you are what you eat, so feed on Christ and the things of God so that you may grow up in Christ likeness. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. God bless you all!!

I was a member of The Heath in the late 70s, at a time when there were no empty seats at the Sunday services. I can remember attending the midweek Bible studies at the Manse sitting at the feet (literally) of Vernon Higham as he encouraged us to see wonderful things in God's word. Thank you for the memories.

I was converted as a 13 year old under the ministry of this dear man when he was a minister in Thamesmead. I remember his Wednesday night series on Nehemiah. He helped us to understand the book with the aid of some wonderful pieces of art painted by his own talented hand. Whatever he lacked in formal education he more than made up for in the school of the word. Very blessed and very grateful to God for Michael's faithfulness over all these years.

In what passage did John write that Jesus was 100% God and 100% man?
@HeathEvangelicalChurch3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew, great question! Check out John 1:1 where Jesus, called "the Word" is called God. Then John 1:14 where Jesus "became flesh and dwelt among us". 1 John 1 is also a good place to go for this. Isn't it amazing that God became man to save us?
@andrewsmith33443 жыл бұрын
@@HeathEvangelicalChurch if you read the Tyndale bible, the word "word" is in lower case. Why is the w a capital letter in the KJV?
@HeathEvangelicalChurch3 жыл бұрын
Another good question Andrew. 'Word' is capitalised in the KJV because the translators decided to capitalise references to God. Since John identifies the Word as God, they capitalised 'Word'. It's clear that John thinks Jesus is both God and man, and we agree! John 1:1 John 1:14 1 John 1:1 1 John 5:7

So precious!! Amen 🙏 Thank you for that encouraging advice!! Sometimes we may get a little discouraged when we don't see changes, but it's not up to us, its God's work. When you plant a garden, and water it, it is God who makes it beautiful. So we plant, another waters and God gives the sunshine! How lovely 😊

If you believe in God the Father, that He always answers His prayers, then we know that we will be kept from the evil one. We know that we will all be one. We will see His Glory. God will keep us all our days, in every trial and affliction. We will also grow in love to Him and in love with each other!! Praise God for His grace!! Make sure you use all the means of grace God has given you ( prayer, bible, preachers and teachers of God and His Word) Audio books from the puritians are a very Great source of grace also!! Of course when God gives the increace. God must give the sunshine and the water to make the little plant to grow. Pray for the blessing, ask God to enable you to hear His Voice, and then listen with faith. Ask for faith, for without faith, no one can please the Lord. Feed on the Word of God daily, so you may walk closer with your Creator, who is our blessed Saviour!! God bless you all!!

Thank you again for this wonderful series. Thank you Mr. Murray for the Banner of Truth and all these wonderful books to strengthen our love and faith for our Lord. As a side note, I would argue one can never get enough of Rev. David Martyn Lloyd-Jones. The two volume biography is a must read for all Pastors. I'm a Sunday School teacher just so you know. In truth, I find the ministry of the Calvinistic Methodist Forward Movement Church in Aberavon Wales were the Doctor served for over 9 years (as I recall) to be the must interesting. I think all Pastors who are faithfully serving small to mid-size congregations will be greatly blessed. Grace be with you all and keep on ...

God knows how I would love to be there in your midst and to fellowship with you, but we will have plenty of that in Heaven with our lord. We are truly caught up together with the Lord in the air, and we will be always with Him!! 1st Thessalonians 4:17. Love you all brothers and sisters!! May God bless you and your ministry!!
