Good unbiased review. What I find interesting, and potentially telling, is how so many of his critics seem to ignore a fair number of other reviewers/"influencers" (not all) seeming to benefit from their own relations with some brands without disclosing so as to avoid the perception of impropriety. My understanding of his stance in additives is that the most commonly used ones aren't dangerous or that different from what many people already consume. I totally agree with you that many additives distract from unadulterated flavors and also can be bad for you in large amounts, though this is also true of liquor inherently since it's a poison. He also says he prefers tequilas without additives, which can come across as confusing, I know. I do find it funny when some supporters of additive free then talk about how much they like making tequila cocktails with soda pop and other sugary mixers. The key to me, as someone who grew up with lots of food allergies including to artificial colors, flavors, & preservatives, isn't the additives per se but transparency in labeling. There are also clear signs of "additive free" being turned from something positive into a marketing tool like the "health food" craze a couple decades ago ("fat free," "low fat," etc. But then with other things added, including lots of sugar or wheat).

I know this is an older video but I just ventured from bourbon to tequila. Even in bourbon it was the same. People got expectations off of secondary and rarity. It's not the actual distilleries or company's that produce your juice that making these prices that are way over retail. Problem is people like to crap on the people that made it instead of appreciating what it was originally for. Just bc its hard to get doesn't mean it's worth what you paid secondary. NOTHING will ever be worth what you paid secondary. I don't see Fortaleza every day in North Carolina/ South Carolina but it is around for msrp if you know where to go once every few weeks. I got one this morning. It's just hard to get anything other than the blanco here. I drink and enjoy what I find. Some just use it for a paper weight and a showcase. I got a weller CYPB last week for 60 that can go on secondary for up to 500 dollars. Popped the cork right when I got home. I was talking to someone at the store and they said they have had their CYPB for 8 years unopened. Most of these people buying up everything don't even drink them. Good thing about North Carolina is it's a controlled state. They can't sell over MSRP.

I picked up the Nueveuno Anejo back in June. I didn't get the Blanco or the Reposado. Thanks for the review. I might look for this one, Ive held back because of the wine barrels. I Love their bottle design. Cazcanes is a little high $$

I thought the same about Nueveuno blanco vs Nueveuno anejo deep. That Nueveuno blanco has a rubber smell to it. The Nueveuno deep is fire 🤤😋🥃

I thought it was amazing a lot fruit on the nose and palate. I didn't get that much burn from it. But my batch was from 2019. I also bought the criollo 23 and I was not impressed. I felt this blanco was much better. But again maybe the new batch is better. But for me Overhyped.

I gotta say other than the price point, I really enjoy Cazcanes. I have their no 7 reposado and anejo and I think they are both great tequilas. This one is on my list to get along with the no 9 rosa reposado that just dropped today and the no 9 single barrel anejo. Great review and content!

I tried this one in a TMM tasting panel and I really liked this one. I gave it an 88. From what Grover mentioned this is French and American oak. I picked up a lot of the same notes you mentioned for both the nose and the palate. My only problem with this tequila is that it is not available here in AZ. I saw your anejo review and sounds like I need to get that one!

Great review. When you say it’s a little funky, would you say it’s similar to Don Fulano funk? Also, that Corrido anejo is really great. I love what they did using the Merlot barrels.

you should do more blind tasting perhaps with your spouse..select 3 or 4 blancos ,repo and anejos .use colored glass. label them and so on..

Where I live in Canada you are looking at CAD $120 a bottle for the El Tesoro blanco (round bottle). that is like US $90. seems high. I have seen similar pricing in Mexico now. I am told that the price has gone way up after Suntory bought in. I have heard the price is going up in the USA also. So if you like it....better buy a few bottles now

I snagged one yesterday at $59... Im on a tight budget but I couldnt pass it up at that price. I get sweetness, might be from the wood and definitely minerals, I enjoy it so far 👍. Love this one and the 108 proof version
