Some lovely thoughts here. I like the tension between God’s providence and His grace. Did He oversee Onesimus’ disobedience to and departure from Philemon, or did He make something beautiful out of Onesimus’s deliverance. I think of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with gold, the scars remain, the damage is done, but the restored item is one of unique beauty and precious.
