Great video! Does anyone know if this is the same for a 6-cylinder Mustang? My 69 has a one-barrel carb. In cold start, I usually give 1 or 2 gas and start. And once for a warm start.

Plug in the mass airflow sensor then give her another revtap. Shell scream then. But definitely check that oil psi. It scares me lol. Mine gets 60 at idle. Yours barely tops 18. But I love it buddy

Something doesn't seem right here. I thought holding the peddle all the way down just floods it even worse with a carburetor and that trick was for the early TBI fuel injection in the 80-90's. Did those sun vizers come from a newer car?

I guess the basic difference is with a carburetated engine, the whole purpose of the foot action on the pedal all relates back to the carburetor bowl being empty (cold)vs. suffiently full(warm). A fuel injection engine relies on a fuel pump and ECU both working.
@nashvilleoutlaw Жыл бұрын
Kinda. The bowl is full but a carb engine has to dump raw fuel in the intake to evaporate. Where fuel injection sprays fuel as a mist. Carbs run off about 5psi. Early fuel injection about 30psi. Modern direct injection about 2000psi.
@79c15 Жыл бұрын
If the engine is tuned properly and carburetor in good shape you should not have to pump the gas more than once. Some times even half a pump is more than enough.

Just a note, kind of unrelated, one time my 2003 Ram (so it's certainly fuel-injected) was failing to quite turn over. The second time I tried, when I realized it was again falling a little short, I pressed the gas a little bit and that seemed to give it the push it needed.
@poindextertunes Жыл бұрын
Oh wow! Not only is this helpful, my car is a 67 mustang! My mechanic installed a choke tho. And although its a pain in the @ss to have to start my car 15 minutes before I go anywhere, theres nothing like hearing a v8 engine with long tube headers 💯🔥

I remember back in the days before the World Wide Web ... back to the last half of the 1980s ... it had never really occurred to me to look for the building they used for "Station 51" exteriors. I figured it was probably up around Universal Studios, where a lot of their other "drivin' around" was filmed. And then I started working a weekend job at a place that had the Thomas Bros. Guide that covered Los Angeles County. While looking up an address, I saw the little "FS" designating a fire station, and I started wondering if one of those "FS"s, somewhere, was dear little Station 51. I gave it some thought, and then one day -- either before or after work -- I combed the pages that covered the area north of Long Beach to find a "FS" with a freeway behind it and that might be facing into one of the many tank storage facilities in that part of town. "BINGO!" Then as soon as I got a chance, I drove down and found it, pulled over to the curb across the street, and took a few Instamatic photos to celebrate my find. Ironically, at the previous weekend job I had, one of my co-workers was a lad named R.J. Fuller. We did not work in the same location, but spoke over phone and radio. Neither of us was there for very long, but I DID ask if the actor "Robert Fuller" was his father, and he answered, very surprised, "Yes! How did you know?" I told him that Emergency was still my favorite television show, and he (R.J.) sounds like Dr. Brackett. So one weekend when I was on shift and he was not, he phoned the office just to tell me he was over at his dad's house and he thought I'd get a kick out of getting a call from there. Obviously I did.

It looks the same, but a little different than on the show Emergency! but then I have to remember that some of the senes were done on a big sound stage in the back lot of Universal. Only the external shots were of the real station.
