Today my dispatcher called to say I had a dangerous camera event: On a smooth empty road with no traffic. I ran my fingers through my hair. Someone working a 9-5 desk job. With their only purpose in life, to nit pick. Chose me. I never got to experience the good old days. But, big brother trucking sure takes the joy out of driving.

@@EarlGraf wow , never knew that’s what it’s like, in real life now a days. @@sonnypruitttrucking Don’t want to sound cocky, but I can spot a 359 or w900 from miles away. I started building the model trucks in 1974 as a 10 year old . I am still at it. You can see the headlight bezels are attached to the grill on the 359, then the edit switch’s to the nose of the w900 , where the headlights are part of the fenders. In my humble opinion the W900 of this era is the most beautiful front end in all of trucking…always be my absolute favorite.

Poor acting, not realistic. No trucker on a paid scheduled run just drops everything for a few days to boy scout a local issue. That's pure Hollywood. But, this episode does show a few sides of the best and the worst. Eastern Oregon has to offer. Several scenes were shot on location. Either east wash, or Oregon. In most any year. Some of the best, and worst people you are ever likely to meet. The bad are simply a result of the lack of education system and the overturning of the fairness doctrine, then. Citizens united. As a result they are fed a whole lot of negatives. For better or worse. From 1974 to 2024. Not much has changed in this area of America.

Got into VR trucking just a few months ago, started with ETS2 and then switched over to ATS for a change. Good old Kenworth W900 and Peterbilt 389 (well, as a successor of the 359 and 379) are the way to go. Started watching the German 80's Show "Auf Achse" (seen a few episodes on TV back then), heard about "Abenteuer auf der Landstraße" and here I am, watching the OG version (after the In Tandem pilot episode) of it (they didn't synchronize all episodes). Interestingly, I started out in Vancouver, BC, but then was driving around Portland, Oregon a lot. Great to see Will and Sonny around that place as well. Still have to come to Astoria and across that bridge shown in the beginning, though.
