This is my favorite of Brian FitzGerald's videos. His videos keep me motivated to get my own QuickSilver. Flew it for the first time this year just yesterday.

That's excellent, Thomas! I got in quite a few hours this Summer in the MXL, too. About 5 years ago I bought a RANS S-12 and have been flying it a lot also. This last 5+ weeks I have been mostly grounded while I perform a "5 Year Rubber Change" on my RANS' Rotax 912UL. I'm not a very fast mechanic but I like to think I am very methodical and attentive to detail. So, it is taking me a lot of time. My Wife and I have also gone on a 3 day Anniversary trip and our Grandsons stayed with us on another 3 day occasion so, it's not like I have worked on the engine every day. Also, I had to wait on some parts about 4 times. When you do a project like this, there are always things that crop up that need attention that you didn't plan for at first.

You must get good images of the hexagonal Sun Simulator above the clouds/chemtrails. If you film it through a welding lens, it is obvious to behold. The real Sun is eclipsed so frequently by incoming Nemesis System planets, you will rarely see it now Notice the Sun Simulator has a blue hue and hexagonal perimeter shape which is obvious from casual viewing from the ground with sunglasses.

Had a close call while flying near Seattle. Barely missed unmarked high tension wires. No matter how safe you think low flying is, taking chances like you are doing is dangerous. It's only a matter of time when an unseen hidden wire, God forbid, may get you.
@BrianFitzGerald-TheSkySurfer Жыл бұрын
Dear Jay, Thanks for watching. I have never encouraged anyone to fly low like I do in these movies. Consider this... My airspeed is 38mph and I have awesome visibility out front of this pusher airplane. An important thing to note is that when I give my rationale for flying low, I ALWAYS make it clear that I am making a movie. You would not have watched it if I flew to Harper at even 500' AGL. It would be paralyzingly dull. I could go on regarding production values but... I am intrigued by your experience "...while flying near Seattle. Barely missed unmarked high tension wires." From that I am assuming you are claiming said high tension lines were not on the map. So, what? Are you really telling me you did not see high tension lines in front of you because they weren't on a map??? Again, what does that have to do with it? Were you not looking around? Frankly, high tension wires are HUGE compared to the low barb wire fences I am looking for. I have done 8 of these POV movies and never had a scary moment because I am constantly scanning ahead. How could it be any different? Remember! Ground speed and visibility have everything to do with this subject. I suspect you were flying a much faster tractor propeller airplane. Flying at 38mph is vastly different from flying 80mph or more. Besides the ultralight, I also own RANS S-12 that will do around 90mph. Flying it, even when I am out here on the prairie, I stay at 500' to 1,000' AGL. 50mph faster makes all the difference as does being behind a windshield rather than looking through clear air. Frankly, my main concern when making the POV movies is the tendency for 2 stroke engines to fail suddenly. So I am very careful with maintenance and have a plan for engine out landings (of which I have experienced 6 while flying a Quicksilver before finally buying a Rotax 503 DCDI!). I appreciate you looking out for me but I want you to know I have explored this issue A LOT. Additionally, you can take a deep breath now. After making 8 of these POV movies - I am done with that phase and on to other things... Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer

@@BrianFitzGerald-TheSkySurfer I did not expect such a lengthly reply. I watch many flights on youtube, some at lower altitudes. Most are short flights, none as long as yours. I find all are interesting. I never forgot my close call and my level of fear rises when see a close to ground flight. I can see you are careful. In the past us oldsters just jumped in our planes and flew off without checking maps in a somewhat familar area. Most of the high tension wires had large, orange billows, not the ones I almost hit. Might have been new construction. I almost forgot a friend who had part of his face sliced open by a wire fence upon landing, to small to see. Just a small scar left. Good luck with future videos. The ones you made look good. I flew around St Helens before it blew and took 8MM films. I don't fly any longer due to advancing age, loss of coordination among other problems with my health. I could still fly but why take chances with time span remaining. TAKE CARE....

@@jgs3456 Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I lived in Sacramento when everyone was waiting for St. Helens to blow up. I just saw in my NRA magazine a company is selling some blue jewels they are calling "Helenite" that have been recovered in the area after the blow out. Too bad you gave up flying. It is a little cold here right now but I was thinking about grabbing some air in my enclosed S-12. As I opened the hangar doors the wind was pushing against them too hard. I checked and it was was a gust around 18mph. I can fly in that stuff but decided not today. Maybe Saturday or Sunday. Thanks for watching my movies!
