In regards to the “cringy ” internet humor in the movie, I feel that it’s pretty obvious to tell based on a media’s overall quality and deeper meaning if that type of humor is “forceful hipness” or actually just trying to be silly and look earnestly cool. My main examples when think of this come from Yo-Kai Watch, Amphibia, and Splatoon 3, all of which have used the Dab before, but it doesn’t really come off as cringy because I know these pieces of media have actual care and earnest effort into them that makes them special, and thus they come off as silly and endearing rather than cringy, at least to me.
