Here's an FAA question maybe you can help me understand, question " What is approximate base of cumulus cloud if the surface air temp at 1,000 ft MSL is 70 F and dew point is 48 F" The answer is 6,000ft MSL but I don't understand how that is calculated.

Thank you so much for the video. This has been a great aid as I study for Part 107 exam. Question # 2 was 47 40 but the answer you gave was for 47 20. Am I not understanding something?
@OlgaAndreevaVideosАй бұрын
Glad this video is helping you out! :) Since all the sectional charts will be in North America, we can assume that moving south will decrease the latitude. In order to get to 47 degrees 40 minutes, we want to subtract 20 minutes from the 48 degree line, and we do that by moving south by 20 minutes. Does that help you out?

Great question! Those are the Maximum Elevation Figures, or MEFs. The MEF is the lowest altitude you can fly and still be assured to clear every obstacle within that quadrant. Check out this wiki page (under the "United States" section) for more information on how it's calculated: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_elevation_figure

You taking the time to show how to outline the "B" space all the way around to the other side of that level to find the answer was really helpful. I am sure that will be prove to be one of those "Wow" moments for at least a few who find this great video. Some people get in a hurry and look for the first number that is an option among the answers, which can result in a wrong answer. Thanks again. Much appreciated. 🙏👍

Wowzer, after reviewing your series of the METAR and TAF videos, I am starting to feel like a Meteorologist. Not totally, but I must say I am beginning to connect the dots (rain dots💦). I wish you had videos on some of the other Part 107 subjects as well. Thank you again Olga! 🙏

If only they provided a legend or chart of the codes to work through during the exam. That would be a huge help. Nevertheless, we press on with our attention and retention to the details as best we can. Thank you again. Great job! 😇

Yet another great look at the TAF's. Great review. Repetition breeds retention, provided the brain is locked in and focused. This was definitely a great help. Thank you for taking the time to chart it out on the screen like you did. Much appreciated. 🙏😎

Hi Olga, thank you for your videos, they are very helpful. I'm wondering, for your first problem, how you knew that was the (SUX) airport? You said that is the only airport in the area but I see a restricted/private airport with the circled "R", and two other magenta circles with dashes. Are these not airports, or how did you rule these out? Thank you so much.
@OlgaAndreevaVideos4 ай бұрын
Hello! Glad the videos have been helpful. You're totally right- there are a few other airports within the section chart. I was able to rule these out because the two other magenta circles are labeled Graham and Martin respectively, while the restricted/private airport is labeled Lawton. The color of the label will match up with the color of the airport, so I found the blue Sioux Gateway/Col Day (SUX) label, and then found the blue airport icon nearby. You'll typically see the non-circle icon being used for bigger airports (which are often the subject of sectional chart problems) because this means they either have runways greater than 8069 ft or an airport with multiple runways that may be less than 8069 ft.
