LOL. Whether it was Angelique, Laura or the fake Julia, why did these women pause with the hammer raised for so long? No one can say they never had their chances!

Poor Julia, It took Barnabas so long to realize she was important to him, and even so he never admitted that he loved her. But she stayed with him. I see that as a sad but beautiful relationship.

The production was cheap but everyone gave the best. They were all professionals. The actors, as well as the technical staff, the story/screenplay made you curiouse/ desire to watch the whole story. I was.6, 7 years old when I watched Dark Shadows, always behind the couch and ready not to watch frightening scenes. But I had to watch it. 😂 The best scene i think was a dialogue on a table with another good actor showing a jealeous and dangerous Barnabas speaking about something else but clearly talking about bad things you know will happen.

Wow, that villainous Hoffman plans to stake Barnabas. Surprisingly, Dr. Julia Hoffman suddenly appeared from behind with a blunt force instrument & POUNDED the "other bitch" Hoffman to death. (She POUNDED herself, LOL) She didn't mean to kill her. But she did. This part made my cat's ears up like an owl🦉LOL I applauded. Barnabas soon realized that it was Dr. Julia Hoffman who saved him. Barnabas insists that they both should return back to their own time, But Dr. Julia impersonates the "other" Hoffman & takes her place as an imposter & insists that she wants to stay in the parallel time & be a spy. Therefore, both Barnabas & Dr. Julia will have to take risks & face challenges.

This is awesome. She almost lost it again standing by Louis. Wonderful. I didn’t catch this in the episode. I agree with the person who suggested that Louis may have said something funny before the scene. Look at his face when he says, “You find that amusing?” What a show. I love it so much.

Que bella que es Carolyn.
@nassauguy4810 ай бұрын
In this scene where Carolyn seems to not care that Julia is frightened, it should be noted that she was under the spell of Barnabas who had recently bitten her. Barnabas was still a vampire at that point and had become convinced that Julia was working against him. (She was not). So he bit Carolyn and put her under his spell so that she could keep a close eye on Julia. (Notice the scarf around Carolyn's neck). This was the night where Barnabas was planning to literally scare Julia to death.

You're right on every point here. I'm an original fan seeing this in '67 at 10, and of course since. Although her acting here is wonderful as always, it bordered on being sadistic to her, which as adult I don't like. The 1795 story line came along soon after this, basically in the nick of time. The writers had time to develop new story lines for 1968 when they returned to the present, giving the show the fresh start it needed. and realigning Barnabas and Julia as a 'team' (as they should be) against new common enemies introduced in during the course of '68. But yes, they'd kind of written themselves into a bad corner in late '67 and I think they knew it.

I keep wondering how James Hall would have developed as Willie Loomis,I think he would have been terrific in the role.
@marilynwillett80411 ай бұрын
James hall would have been much better because he looked the part, he was younger and much cuter, a real blonde punk, I know you're all used to our Willie but he was such a Ham, he over did his scenes. I recall punks from that era and they looked like James Hall. Obviously some idiotic din't like Hall or the original actor that played Burke, too Alpha in their opinion.
@nassauguy489 ай бұрын
Had the character of Willie not been mellowed down, James Hall would likely have been kept. But after coming under the spell of Barnabas, Willie became tentative and timid, and James was simply too rough and rugged looking to fill that role.
@melodiefrances38985 ай бұрын
. Unfortunately Ryan Mitchell was having trouble with alcohol. He was a waaaaay better Burke, imho.
@BethHarmon-uv7tl3 ай бұрын
@@marilynwillett804 Have to disagree (espcially about James Hall being cuter than John Karlen...not in my book!). I don't think Hall would have brought 1/10th of the complexity that Karlen did as Willie the vampire slave. Not saying John couldn't be hammy on occasion (especially when he had the dream), but he made Willie so much more likable and sympathetic, I just don't think James Hall would have been able to pull off. Hall was fired because there were problems with him on the set, so if you want to blame anyone for him not being allowed to continue in the role as Willie blame him. The show must go on, as they say. I'll be forever grateful that Dan Curtis hired a far more competent actor in Karlen. Just because an actor 'looks the part' doesn't necessarily mean they're the right guy for the role. Hall has proven that.
