Portor was so hateful. I will never forget the episode although the two pool playing professionals. He was going to teach them how to play pool. He grabbed up one of their $4,000 pool sticks. He got put in his place.

Johnny Rivers belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But without Johnny Rivers, the Hall is not real and it is a fake perversion of rock and roll. Instead they put one hit wonders like Isaac Hayes or non-rock Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. They have no criteria, rhyme or reason for who they select. There is no transparency or receipts they will show you about their yearly selections or why one of the all time Greats Johnny Rivers is not in the Hall of Fame. I get sick thinking about it. Add Boston, The Grass Roots, Three Dog Night to the long list of successful groups not in the Hall. At one time Grass Roots were the most popular band in the country. Yet on another occassion Three Dog Night outsold the Beatles. Johnny is such a talent...what an incredible voice. My favorites include "Summer Rain", "Look to Your Soul" and "Slow Dancing." Watch "Slow Dancing" from 1977 on the Midnight Special and enjoy his emotional crescendo in this song that eclipses almost every moment in rock and roll history. I saw and met Johnny Rivers near Santa Fe, New Mexico.....at Camel Rock Casino. Pure gentleman, everyone left happy and excited by this legend's live show.

Red Sovine was a true original! He could sing and he was also a storyteller. Many of his songs are very sad and heartwarming. But you should 'feel' music and his songs have meaning...as good music should! Besides that, it was a simpler time in the world, and it's reflective in his music. Red Sovine had a way of conveying such emotions in you with his songs. They speak of both the joys and struggles of real life. There's an honesty and sincerity in this man's voice...like that of an old friend! May his songs continue to touch the lives and hearts of everyone that hears his music!

Observation--- it. seems that Merle was a lot happier here-- lots of smiles and looked like he was having fun!! When he was with Bonnie, he always looked happy. Always enjoy his performances but in his later days the look in his eyes was more sad then happy.
