Awesome overnight, having all your gear there with the stove made a big difference. I think that it's normal for the flu to heat up like that and maybe just takes some getting time getting used to how much of a fire you build. Looking forward to your next video, have a wonderful week, greetings from Cape Town.❤️

It's for sure a big learning curve. I just want to figure out how to keep it running through the night. Hopefully I will get better at managing the fire and making it burn much slower. Nice to see you and the lovely Suki back out there again. Oh don't remind me about that buying equipment that's superfluous. I no longer camp (old age) but still do some photography and I've spent so much over time on 'must-haves' that were useless and totally unnecessary. Bottom line though is how do we know without trying, and they do know how to promote their products! Anyhow, you have a great bit of kit for getting your stuff where you want it to go and that makes for a comfortable camp. I thought your response to the 'mushroom gatherers' was suitably guarded, as it's not always a different species of human who roams outside during the day to those who do it at night. Too much information to the wrong person could result in a repeat visit after dark! As always your prep was immaculate for your safety and comfort and a very enjoyable camp out. Gosh, with a slightly elevated bed and a helping hand here and there, I could almost go back out there myself, doing it your way. Isn't it funny how the smallest hole in a tent lets in a massive amount of rain? A repair's a must. And a wise move with that flue!!! 😳. Deepest commiserations to Izzy's owner. Having a beloved pet cross that rainbow bridge is such a heartache. A smashing camp-out and great video! 👍

I love photography too! I'm absolutely rubbish at it though. I've recently bought a lens that makes pictures look like they were taken on a 90's disposable camera and I LOVE it so much. I'm sorry you don't camp anymore. You should look into yurt rental, lots of places have static yurts that are fully decked out! All you have to do is light a fire in the log burner. I agree about the "mushroom pickers", can never be too careful. Lovely to see you again, stay safe 😊

Maybe next time you are out you could lash an entire layer of simple candles in , instead of wood . Looks like you had fun . . Love the spring chorus of birds
@Chronically_Outdoors7 күн бұрын
Hi, Owen 👋 allegedly the best way to keep the stove in good nick is to only use wood. Otherwise I would pump it full of coal 😂 hope you are well, bud.
@lifesahobby7 күн бұрын
@Chronically_Outdoors I don't think you get what I was saying . Tea light candles have an energy output of 32watts . Or possibly 4 watts per hour per candle . So it looks like your stove could take a tray of may 30 candles . . The energy output would not be enough to cook on , but it would be enough to keep away the cold of night . I use one tealight candle in the entrance of my tent and leave the door open all night . So 30 has to give results and 8 hours burn time would mean you don't have to refuel the fire or be cold at night . I don't see how it's rocket science . If I had one of these stoves it would be just to keep the room cozy . . I just think they are being used wrong . Do you get what I mean by a tray of individually lighting candles ?
@Chronically_Outdoors7 күн бұрын
Ahh, I see what you mean. It's an interesting concept. I've seen a similar idea that incorporated a plant pot on top of the candles. It allegedly could heat a small room but I have some serious doubts lol. The thing with a stove is it is safe. Controlled, tried and tested. I wouldn't feel very safe sleeping with 30 candles blazing away 😂 You're right about people using the stove wrong. In countries such as ours, the temp rarely justifies a tent needing to be heated all night, but, there are countries where you would have a very uncomfortable night sleep without a stove burning through the night. Those stoves tend to incorporate heat bricks and cast iron to retain the heat for longer. I do believe I can keep this stove going all night. I'm looking into insulating the stove and switching up the fuel I use to try and get a longer burn. Just gotta keep trying it and seeing how it goes.
